Media personality and fashion model Jean Ojiro has opened up about the unwavering support she received from her boyfriend throughout her journey to becoming Miss Universe Kenya 2026.

In an Instagram story on Sunday July 26, 2026, hours after being crowned the new Miss Universe Kenya, Ojiro credited her hubby for believing in her even during moments when she struggled with self-doubt.

The beauty queen said her boyfriend had been convinced from the very beginning that she would eventually win the prestigious title, revealing that he started calling her “Miss Universe Kenya” from the day she auditioned.

“And if support has a name? The name would be given to my boyfriend. From the first day that I auditioned, he has been calling me Miss Universe Kenya. Even on days when I doubted it, he never had one shadow of a doubt,” she wrote.

Ojiro’s emotional message came after she emerged victorious during the pageant’s grand finale held at Ole Sereni Hotel on Saturday, July 26, 2026.

Her victory means that she will now represent Kenya at the international Miss Universe competition in Puerto Rico after walking away with a prize package that includes a $10,000 [approximately Ksh1,295,400] cash prize, a brand-new motor vehicle and a fully paid trip to the international competition.

However, behind the glamour of the crown and the celebrations was a period of anxiety and uncertainty that Ojiro has now given her fans a glimpse into through private messages she exchanged with her boyfriend.

In one of the messages she shared, Ojiro appeared to be overwhelmed by nerves as she prepared for the pageant, telling her boyfriend that she was struggling with anxiety ahead of the competition.

“I’m soooo nervous and anxious, babe. My stomach is literally in knots,” she wrote.

Her boyfriend responded by reassuring her and reminding her of the confidence he had placed in her from the beginning of her Miss Universe journey.

“Aww, my beautiful. It’s okay to feel nervous, it just means this truly matters to you. But remember who you are, Miss Universe Kenya,” he responded.

In another exchange, the beauty queen expressed concern about whether she would remember everything she needed to do and communicate herself effectively during the pageant.

“I hope I’ll be able to remember everything I need to do. And be able to articulate myself properly,” she told him.

Her boyfriend again reassured her, telling her that he was praying for her and expressing his confidence that she would perform well.

“I’m praying for you, my love. God will give you peace, help you remember everything. You’re going to shine, I believe in you,” he wrote.

Prize package

Following her victory, Ojiro secured a prize package designed to support her reign and prepare her for the international Miss Universe competition.

She received a cash prize of $10,000 [about Ksh1,295,400], as well as a fully paid trip to Puerto Rico, where she will represent Kenya at the global pageant.

She also won a brand-new motor vehicle and will undergo a five-month skincare transformation programme valued at Ksh500,000.

The programme is intended to support her preparation and help her look and feel her absolute best as she takes on her new responsibilities.

Ojiro will also have access to a fully furnished residence throughout her reign, giving her a home as she undertakes her official duties as Miss Universe Kenya.

Beyond the immediate prizes, she will receive professional talent management and career development support both locally and internationally.

She also received a Ksh10,000 Little Cab trip voucher, a brand-new smartphone and a six-month gym membership.
