Jaymo Ule Msee explains why he supports Ruto despite criticism
By Paulette Mboga, August 23, 2026Social media personality and aspiring politician Wilson Muirani Gathoni, widely known as Jaymo Ule Msee, has explained why he supports President William Ruto, saying his political history of facing challenges influenced his decision to back him despite criticism.
Jaymo said Ruto has spent much of his political life dealing with challenges while serving in different governments. He pointed to his time in the governments of former presidents Daniel arap Moi and Mwai Kibaki as part of the reason for his support.
“You are asking me why I support Ruto, because in most of his life, he has been on the proposing side,” Jaymo Ule Msee said on Saturday, August 22, 2026, on a podcast.

He explained that Ruto’s experience in both the Moi and Kibaki governments showed him a politician who had been presented with challenges and had to deal with them. Jaymo said this history is important when he considers why he supports the president.
“Whether he was in Moi government ama in Kibaki’s Government, this is a person who has been presented with challenges, and had to deal with them,” Jaymo Ule Msee said.
Jaymo on the opposition
Jaymo also spoke about opposition politics, questioning how some leaders seek to protect wananchi while mainly complaining about the same problems facing them. He mentioned Martha Karua and Sifuna while making his point about leaders in the opposition.
“Martha Karua, angalia, they really complain. Sifuna, a guy of our generation, he has become one of the youngest complainers,” Jaymo Ule Msee said.
He said opposition leaders should offer better ideas instead of only pointing out problems. Jaymo explained that politicians seeking power should tell Kenyans what they would do differently if allowed to lead.

“So ukienda rally zao, how do you ..unalinda aje mwananchi by complaining the way mwananchi is complaining? Why can’t you linda him with better ideas by saying, if we are in power by this time and this is what we will do,” Jaymo Ule Msee said.
Jaymo said the country keeps returning to the same position when political leaders focus on opposing instead of giving alternative ideas. He explained that there are people who are good at opposition but questioned what significant results are linked to some of them.
“So unapata tuko square one all the time. We need to know that there are people who are good at opposing,” Jaymo Ule Msee said.
He cited Kalonzo as an example of a politician he considers good at opposing. However, Jaymo questioned whether there was anything significant associated with such opposition.
