Jackie Chan: Where the action legend has been lately as fans seek updates
By William Muthama, September 29, 2026Legendary action star Jackie Chan has been at the centre of fresh online attention, with fans searching for updates on the legendary actor after a wave of social media posts falsely claimed he had died.
Some of the viral posts featured a black-and-white image of Chan alongside the years “1954-2026”, prompting worried fans to search for confirmation.
Amid the concerns, many are also wondering where the action legend has been lately and what he has been up to.
The renewed attention comes at a time when Chan has kept a relatively low public profile, with his latest well-documented appearances coming in August as he continued work on his latest film project, Armour of God: Ultimatum.
From Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan
Chan has spent much of 2026 working on Armour of God: Ultimatum, the fourth instalment in the action-adventure franchise in which he reprises his role as Asian Hawk.
The international production moved from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan in early August, with filming taking place in Baku.
The Azerbaijan Republic Cinema Agency said this was Chan’s first time filming in the country, with key scenes shot around Baku and the Caspian Sea. More than 100 local film specialists were involved in the production, according to Azerbaijani officials.
Chan later spoke about the demanding schedule during an appearance in Harbin, telling fans that he had been on set in Baku just a day before arriving in China.
The actor joked about Baku’s long summer evenings, saying the crew could have kept shooting late into the night if they hadn’t needed to catch their flight.
Chan’s latest confirmed public appearance
After the Azerbaijan shoot, Chan travelled to Harbin for the seventh Jackie Chan International Action Film Week, held from August 10 to 12.
The closing ceremony and honorary awards gala took place on August 12 at Harbin Ice and Snow World, where Chan met fans and reflected on his decades in action cinema.
The event also marked 50 years of the Jackie Chan Stunt Team and celebrated action films from China and beyond. Chan’s 2025 thriller The Shadow’s Edge received several Iron Man awards during the festival.
His Harbin appearance is the latest widely documented public event involving the actor that I could verify, with no similarly well-documented public appearance found for September so far.
Chan’s July visit to Singapore school
In July, Chan also made a public appearance in Singapore, visiting Pei Chun Public School on July 7, where he interacted with around 900 students and young wushu athletes.
He shared lessons from his childhood and career, encouraging the students to work hard, pursue their dreams and help others.
