Huyu mtoto ni wako? Mosiria engages Harriet Njenga’s dad after viral video of them clubbing
By Steve Ireri, August 30, 2026Nairobi’s Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement Geoffrey Mosiria has finally come face to face with the father of popular influencer and journalist Harriet Njenga after a viral video showing the two drinking and popping bottles together left many questioning their relationship.
In a video shared by Harriet on the evening of Saturday, August 29, 2026, Mosiria is seen meeting her father, James Mbugua, who was seated inside a black car as the two engaged in a light-hearted conversation about the viral incident.
During the encounter, Mosiria sought to establish whether Mbugua was indeed Harriet’s father, asking him directly whether the popular influencer was his daughter.
Mbugua, who was dressed in a red T-shirt, affirmed that Harriet was his daughter before explaining the circumstances surrounding the now-viral drinking session.
He explained that the moment was simply for their enjoyment, adding that he is her protective father and remains closely involved in her life.
“Huyu ni msichana wako? Eeh. Mnakunywa na yeye pombe. Unanunulia mtoto pombe,” Mosiria asked.
Mosiria then sought to establish whether Mbugua had deliberately chosen to treat his daughter to alcohol so that she would not be vulnerable to strangers who might offer her such treats.
Mbugua confirmed that this was the case, maintaining that he would do anything for his daughter.
“Yes, that’s it. And I would do anything,” Mbugua added.
As their conversation continued, Mosiria then took a humorous turn and asked Mbugua whether, had he not been married, he would allow him to marry the popular influencer.
“But now what if I were not married? would you let me marry her?” Mosiria asked.
Mbugua responded by explaining that a father’s responsibility was to protect his daughters and ensure they had the means to enjoy themselves without depending on strangers.
“But it’s God. As fathers, we protect our daughters and make sure that we give them money to enjoy,” he said.
He further explained that fathers should ensure their daughters are not enticed by people who give them money while pretending to have good intentions.
“Not to be given money by other people who lie to them and then our ladies get lost,” he added.
Mosiria then said the meeting had convinced him that the man in the viral video was genuinely Harriet’s father.
“But now I have believed that he is Njenga’s father,” he said.
He explained that before the encounter, he had suspected that the man could have been a stranger who was misleading the influencer.
“I used to think it was a random man who was in that video and who was lying to this lady,” Mosiria said.
