How travel creator Diana Daisy earned her first Ksh117,000 pay cheque from YouTube

Kenyan travel content creator Diana Daisy has opened up about the moment her online hustle began paying off, sharing how a solo trip across Asia turned her passion into a lucrative business.

Speaking during an interview on AMTV with host Alex Mwakideu on September 26, 2026, Daisy reflected on the hard work and resilience required to build a digital presence far from home.

From daily uploads to dollar earnings

Her breakthrough came while exploring Nepal, having crossed the border from Varanasi in India.

Daisy committed to uploading video content every single day despite the exhausting workload.

“I used to post on a daily basis. Sometimes I was editing until the phone was falling down,” Daisy revealed during the interview.

Her dedication eventually yielded USD900 (Ksh117,000) in earnings, marking a dramatic increase from her previous performance.

“You know back in Kenya, YouTube was making maybe USD300 (Ksh39,000) or USD400 (Ksh52,000). So when I got USD900 (Ksh117,000), I realised it was possible,” she said.

Having spent approximately USD700 (Ksh91,000) on her travel costs up to that moment, making a profit convinced her that full-time travel content creation was sustainable.

To manage her money on the road, Daisy linked a dollar card directly to her YouTube account.

This allowed her to withdraw funds directly from automated teller machines while visiting various destinations, including a short 24-hour layover in Singapore before moving on to Malaysia and Vietnam.

Building a global travel business

Beyond creating online content, Daisy turned her passion into an itinerary planning company in April 2026.

She said starting the business required overcoming self-doubt. “I began it in April this year. I was afraid of doing it, but I told myself, come what may,” Daisy explained.

Her leap of faith quickly bore fruit.

By September 2026, she had organised trips for solo travellers, budget holidaymakers, and honeymooners worldwide, serving more than 300 clients from the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and the Pacific region.
