Girlfriends Day 2026: Tonka warns men against wearing red while surprising their partners

Kenyan streamer Tonka has issued a playful warning to men celebrating Girlfriends Day, urging them to avoid wearing red outfits when planning to surprise their partners on the special occasion.
Speaking about the celebrations in a livestream on Sunday, August 2, 2026, Tonka said Girlfriends Day was a special occasion dedicated to women and called on men to make an effort to match the futuristic theme he associated with the day.
Tonka specifically warned men against showing up in matching red suits if their girlfriends had chosen to wear the colour, insisting that he did not want to see men dressed in red during the celebrations.
“Girlfriends Day is a special day for the girls. If you are a boy and want to wear a matching red suit when your girl wears red, do not dare. I should not see you in red,” he said.

The streamer went on to challenge men to embrace what he described as a more futuristic approach to fashion and styling rather than choosing outfits that he associated with the past.
According to Tonka, men who were unfamiliar with colour choices should take note of his advice and understand that red was not a colour that he considered suitable for men during the celebrations.
“We want futuristic stuff, and if you do not know colours, know now that red is not a boy’s colour. Red is a colour for people who are in the past,” he added.
Tonka also appeared to take issue with men who choose poorly fitting or unattractive suits, saying that such fashion choices did not appeal to him or those following the futuristic style he was advocating for.
“Even if you wear a bad suit, we also do not like it. We do not roll with such,” he said.
Dramatic stream
The message comes just days after the IRL streamer turned an ordinary Nairobi street encounter into a spectacle after his high-energy antics left a group of construction workers momentarily abandoning their duties to watch him.
Tonka was in the middle of an IRL livestream on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, when he came across dozens of construction workers gathered at a building site where a new apartment was being developed.
The workers, clad in reflector jackets, were busy going about their duties when the fast-rising streamer approached the site, seemingly unaware that his next move would instantly turn their attention towards him.
As he drew closer to the workers, Tonka suddenly unleashed his trademark catchphrases, loudly shouting his name and the phrases that have become synonymous with his growing online persona.
The unexpected outburst immediately caught the workers off guard.

One by one, the workers turned their attention away from the construction work and towards the streamer, with some appearing amused by his antics while others watched him with curiosity.
The scene quickly transformed from a routine day at the construction site into an impromptu street spectacle, with Tonka commanding the attention of the workers as he continued with his energetic display.
Some of the workers could be seen laughing and enjoying the moment, while others simply stood watching the streamer as he continued entertaining them.
A few also appeared to embrace the unexpected encounter, responding to Tonka with cheerful remarks as the livestream unfolded.
