Speaking in an interview shared on TikTok on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, Sagini introduced himself as a stage marshal for the fast-rising sacco before describing the working environment within the transport business.
Sagini said the people working within the sacco have developed a strong sense of togetherness, describing the team as a family as they work alongside one another.
“Here we live as a family, and this Sacco is not about politics. Here it is all about work. Youth for youth and we help each other out,” he said.
The stage marshal’s remarks offered a rare glimpse into the people working behind the scenes of the highly customised matatus that have increasingly drawn attention on Nairobi’s roads.
Beyond the flashy exterior of the vehicles, Sagini portrayed the sacco as a workplace where young people work together and support one another as they carry out their respective responsibilities.
He also expressed appreciation to the investors who have brought their matatus to the sacco, acknowledging their role in expanding the operation and providing a platform for the young people working around the vehicles.
“We thank all investors who decided to bring their matatus to us,” Sagini said.
Sagini also spoke directly to young people who may be interested in opportunities within the transport sector, encouraging them to be willing to apply whenever positions become available.
“And if you are a young person out there and you need work, be willing to apply,” he said.
George Ruto’s growing 98 fleet
Sagini’s remarks come shortly after George Ruto commissioned a new fleet of matatus under his 98 Sacco, adding more vehicles to the growing operation.
George attended the ceremony alongside the crews who would operate the matatus, with drivers and conductors turning up in white outfits as the newly completed vehicles were prepared to leave the garage.
A pastor was also invited to bless the fleet before the vehicles began their journey onto Nairobi’s roads.
The pastor led prayers over the matatus and their crews before sprinkling holy water over the vehicles as George and members of the team watched.
The religious ceremony was followed by the vehicles leaving the garage one after another and forming a convoy.
The customised matatus then made their way onto the road with their music systems playing and their lights flashing, giving observers a first look at the fleet outside the workshop.
The latest vehicles added to an operation that has already featured several recognisable names within Nairobi’s nganya scene, including Raptor, Money Fest, Matrix, Mood and Baba Yaga.
