George Ruto left gutted after witnessing Arsenal’s Champions League defeat in Budapest
By Katemarthason Okudo, May 31, 2026President William Ruto’s son, George Ruto, has been left disappointed after Arsenal’s defeat to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the UEFA Champions League final held in Budapest, Hungary.
George Ruto had travelled to Budapest to witness the final live at the Puskás Aréna. He shared moments from inside the stadium as thousands of supporters filled the stands for one of European football’s biggest nights.
In a video he shared on his TikTok page on Saturday, May 30, 2026, he showed himself seated among PSG supporters, despite being an Arsenal fan, enjoying the build-up before emotions shifted with the result.
Reaction After the Final Whistle
After the final whistle, George Ruto was seen processing the defeat, later sharing his reaction on social media.

In a short post on his Instagram page, he acknowledged PSG’s victory while expressing loyalty to Arsenal despite the setback. He also shared a photo from inside the stadium, where he was seen wearing a jacket that appeared to cover his Arsenal jersey among rival fans.
On TikTok, he wrote: “Behind enemy lines, Tough luck, we shall be back. Congrats to PSG.”

Penalty drama
However, the game was quite competitive throughout, with each side struggling to open up a lead before extra time was required to settle the matter. However, this game would eventually be settled by penalties, and there was no lack of excitement in that department either. Arsenal failed to score on their very first kick, which made it easier for Paris Saint-Germain. Then, while David Raya prevented Nuno Mendes from scoring, PSG capitalised when Gabriel Magalhaes hit over the bar from the penalty spot.

It was a frustrating outcome for the English side, who had to wait to claim their first-ever trophy in the competition. Arsenal’s hopes ended in heartbreak in the highly watched game after a dramatic night, which was decided through penalties. This was a night when Arsenal fans saw history pass them by.
PSG’s European win
PSG’s victory added another chapter to their growing European success, while Arsenal were left to reflect on missed opportunities in a final that slipped away in the smallest of margins. For George Ruto, it was a night of hope and heartbreak experienced from the heart of Budapest’s electric football stage.
