Gen Z MCA Mbithe Mulinge speaks emotionally after goons attack her convoy

Mulinge, who is seeking to vie for the Kitui Woman Representative seat in the 2027 General Election, said the incident left her concerned about the involvement of young people in political violence.
In an emotional account shared after the incident, the MCA said she had spent much of the day attending different activities across Kitui before encountering the group while heading to Mutomo.
Mulinge said her day had started with a rally in Mwangeli before she proceeded to Kanjiku to attend a burial service.
She then travelled to another location in Ikutha, where she addressed residents before continuing with her journey towards Mutomo.
It was during the journey, she said, that she encountered a group of people whom she described as goons and accused of being armed and causing havoc along the route.
“I don’t like it when our youths are used to doing bad things. Today I had a rally in Mwangeli and from there I went to Kanjiku for a burial service, and from there I went to speak to citizens at another place called Ikutha,” Mulinge said.
She explained that after addressing residents in Ikutha, she continued towards Mutomo, where she said the situation suddenly changed after her convoy encountered the group.
“And after that I was heading to Mutomo when I met goons. They had been paid to cause havoc, and they had weapons, and they were pelting stones,” she said.
Mulinge added that the group had been hired to cause disruption, claiming that those involved were armed and hurled stones at her convoy.
She then turned her attention to the damage she said was inflicted on her vehicle, pointing to the car as she narrated the ordeal.
“Today was really bad, and I wonder why they are allowing themselves to be used for wrong purposes by politicians. Now look at this car of mine, what they did,” she said.
According to Mulinge, the group not only used stones during the confrontation but also threw eggs at her vehicle, leaving it with visible damage.
“They had eggs which they were also pelting and the car has much damage,” she said, visibly emotional as she recounted the incident.
The MCA expressed particular concern over what she described as the exploitation of young people for political purposes, urging members of Generation Z to avoid being drawn into acts that could expose them to violence or criminal activity.
Her appeal was directed at young people whom she said should resist attempts by politicians or other individuals to use them to advance political interests through destructive means.
“So Gen Z, please don’t allow yourself to be used for wrong reasons,” Mulinge said.
Mulinge is a nominated MCA in the Kitui County Assembly and has been publicly associated with a bid for the Kitui Woman Representative position. Recent candidate listings identify her under the Wiper Democratic Movement for the Kitui Woman Representative race.
