Emotional farewell as Lady Archbishop Pauline Nyatuka is laid to rest
By William Muthama, September 4, 2026Family, church members and friends on Friday, September 4, 2026, gathered in Kiserian to bid farewell to Lady Archbishop Pauline Mokeira Nyatuka, a respected spiritual leader, wife, mother and grandmother.
Her burial followed days of mourning that included a viewing at Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi and requiem services at Calvary Covenant Church in Komarock.
Lady Archbishop Pauline Nyatuka served alongside her husband, Archbishop Jefferson Nyatuka, with the two co-founding Calvary Covenant Centre Church in 1991.
For more than three decades, she served as a pastor and spiritual leader, touching the lives of many through her ministry and community work.
She was also involved in caring for children through the church’s orphanage, mentoring women through the Daughters of Christ ministry and supporting the development of Calvary Covenant Schools.
Those who knew her remembered her as a woman of prayer, generosity and practical service who devoted much of her life to supporting others.
Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris was among those who attended the burial and shared reflections on the life and legacy of the late church leader.
Passaris recalled Archbishop Jefferson Nyatuka as one of her spiritual mentors and said the church had supported her by providing office space when she first entered public office.
She also shared a biblical message from 2 Timothy 4:7, saying: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
Remembered as a mother to many
Pauline Nyatuka was also remembered for her role as a mother and grandmother.
She was the mother of worship minister Debra Nyatuka and other children, while her influence extended beyond her immediate family to many members of the church community.
Family and church members described her as a devoted ministry partner and a mother figure to many who encountered her during her years of service.
As mourners gathered in Kiserian for her final send-off, tributes centred on her faith, service and the lasting impact she made through her family and ministry.
