Dr Ofweneke: Husbands and children should not be treated the same at home

By , June 6, 2026

Comedian and media personality Bush Sande, widely known as Dr Ofweneke, has shared his views on family relationships, saying husbands and children should not be treated the same way at home.

While on air on Friday, June 5, 2026, he stressed that wives should understand the difference between the two and interact with them differently.

“Your husband is not your child. Differentiate how you treat the two of them. You must. You must differentiate how you treat the two of them,” Dr Ofweneke said.

He explained that some women fail to separate the roles of a husband and a child within the family setting. According to him, this can affect how communication and relationships are handled at home.

“Kile ambacho nasema ni kwamba bwana yako si mtoto wako,” Dr Ofweneke said.

The comedian went on to say that some women still do not understand the difference between their husbands and their children. He argued that the way a husband is spoken to should not be the same as the way children are addressed.

“Some of you ladies, mpaka wa leo hamjawaijua tofauti kati ya bwana yako na watoto wako,” Dr Ofweneke said.

He maintained that the distinction should be clear in daily interactions. According to him, family members play different roles and should be treated accordingly.

Family roles at home

Dr Ofweneke said that communication is one of the areas where the difference should be visible. He explained that some women do not know how to speak differently to their husbands and their children.

He repeated his position that a husband should not be viewed in the same way as a child. He stressed that this understanding is important in maintaining the structure he believes should exist within a home.

“Bwana yako si mtoto wako. You must know that,” Dr Ofweneke said.

The media personality also spoke about everyday activities within the household. He argued that a husband should not be treated the same as children in matters involving meals and general household arrangements.

“Bwana yako hawezi kukula kwa sahani the same mtoto anakula,” Dr Ofweneke said.

“Bwana yako akiingia kwa nyumba, si eti yeye ndio anaamkia kiti, yeye ndio anaamkiwa, yeye ndio mfalme. Bwana yako akiingia kwa nyumba, everything must stop because the king has entered,” Dr Ofweneke said.
