Disney Channel’s Zombies star Carla Jeffery dies at 33
By Valerian Khakayi, September 3, 2026Disney Channel actress Carla Jeffery, best known for playing Bree in the Zombies franchise, has died at the age of 33.
Jeffery died on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, according to a statement shared by her long-time talent management company, Alexanders Talent Management. The agency did not disclose the cause of her death.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Carla Jeffery, who passed away on September 1, 2026, at just 33 years old,” the agency said in a statement.
The management company revealed that Jeffery joined Alexander’s Talent Management when she was just 12 years old and remained with the agency for more than two decades.
“Carla joined the Alexanders Talent Management family at the age of 12. For more than 20 years, we had the privilege of watching her grow into a beautiful, vibrant, and incredibly talented woman whose radiant smile could light up any room,” the statement read.
Jeffery rose to prominence among young audiences through Disney Channel’s Zombies franchise, where she portrayed Bree, a cheerleader at Seabrook High School and the best friend of protagonist Addison.
“As Bree in Disney’s hit ZOMBIES franchise, Carla shared her joy, humour, and bright spirit with audiences around the world,” her management said.
Her management agency described Jeffery as more than an actress they represented, highlighting the close relationship they had developed with her over the years.
“Carla was more than a client; she was family,” the statement said.
Call for privacy
The agency also asked the public to give Jeffery’s family and loved ones privacy as they mourned her death.
“Our hearts are with Carla’s family and loved ones during this devastating time. We respectfully ask that their privacy be honoured as they grieve this unimaginable loss,” the agency stated.
“Rest beautifully, Carla. Your light will never be forgotten. May be gone from this world but not from our hearts. Rest in Peace, Carla J. Jeffery.”
Jeffery’s acting career
Jeffery began her acting career at a young age, making her debut in the 2006 comedy Phat Girlz when she was 12. She went on to land roles in several popular television shows, including iCarly, Good Luck Charlie, Shake It Up, Southland, Suburgatory and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. She also had a recurring role as Keysha Black on Curb Your Enthusiasm.
However, Jeffery became widely recognised by younger audiences after joining Disney’s Zombies franchise as Bree, a cheerleader and close friend of protagonist Addison. She reprised the role in Zombies 2 and Zombies 3, and later voiced Bree in the animated series Zombies: The Re-Animated Series.
Her connection with the character went beyond acting. In a 2025 interview, Jeffery reflected on the impact of seeing young Black girls identify with Bree. She said she had never imagined becoming an inspiration to young viewers but was touched after seeing girls dressed as her character.
Jeffery also attended the 2025 premiere of Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires, the latest instalment in the popular franchise.
Her death comes as the Zombies series continues to resonate with Disney audiences, with her portrayal of Bree remaining one of her most recognisable roles.
