Colonel Mustafa speaks on education, music and culture ahead of October event

The musician linked the classroom experience to creativity, innovation and the development of ideas, noting that many of the movements that shape society begin with education.
“School is where the spark begins. Every major idea, every groundbreaking invention, and every cultural movement traces back to a foundation built in the classroom,” Colonel Mustafa said on Wednesday, September 30,2026.
He further highlighted the role of education in Kenya, describing it as more than academic learning and connecting it to the spirit of Harambee.
“In Kenya, education isn’t just about books; it’s the spirit of Harambee, where community, grit, and ambition give rise to pure talent,” he added.
According to Mustafa, the same qualities developed through learning can help people turn their passions into lasting careers and legacies.
“That same drive to learn, adapt, and innovate is what turns passion into a lasting legacy,” he said.
The reflections come ahead of an event scheduled for October 10 at Imperial Chambers Lounge along Kiambu Road, where music and culture will take centre stage.
“Come celebrate the journey, the music, and the culture as we mark a major milestone,” Mustafa said.

Colonel Mustafa’s music career
Colonel Mustafa has been a familiar name in Kenya’s music industry for more than two decades, first gaining widespread recognition as a member of the popular hip-hop group Deux Vultures.
The group, which also featured Collo, became known for songs such as Mwanake, helping establish Mustafa as one of the notable names in Kenya’s early 2000s urban music scene.
Mustafa later pursued a solo career, releasing several songs and collaborations as he continued to build his profile in the Kenyan entertainment industry.
His career has also seen him explore different sounds and collaborations with other Kenyan artistes, while remaining active in the local entertainment scene.
Over the years, Mustafa has remained connected to conversations around Kenyan music and culture, making his latest reflections on education, creativity and the next generation of talent part of a wider conversation about the country’s creative industry.
