Chef Dorky Dorcas hopes for Ruto’s Ksh5M reward after Guinness World Record win
By William Muthama, July 16, 2026Chef Dorky Dorcas has shared a heartwarming conversation with her mother after officially becoming a Guinness World Record holder, with the pair joking about the Ksh5 million reward President William Ruto previously promised Kenyans who break global records.
Speaking in a TikTok post on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Dorcas, who recently earned the Guinness World Record for the fastest time to make three chapatis, documented the phone call as she broke the exciting news to her mother.
Moments into the conversation, her mother expressed optimism that the family would soon benefit from the President’s pledge.
“Ni tungoje ile milioni tano ya Ruto na mengine,” she said, before asking, “Bado Ujapewa milioni tano?”
Dorcas responded with a laugh, saying she was yet to receive any reward.
“Hapana, bado sijapatiwa,” she replied.
The conversation comes months after President William Ruto announced that Kenyans who successfully earn a World Record would be rewarded with Ksh 5 million in recognition of their achievements on the global stage.
Why Dorcas chased Guinness Record
Dorcas revealed that attempting the Guinness World Record was never just about making history. She said her goal was to gain visibility and create opportunities that would help her achieve her dream of owning a hotel.
“I did the Guinness World Record to put my name out there. In this world of ours, if you’re not known, chances of being helped are very little. So I did this challenge because I wanted to be known and I wanted to get help,” she said.

Known on social media as Dorky Dorcas, the chef credited her mother for nurturing her passion for cooking from a young age. Growing up in a family of five children, she said watching her mother prepare meals inspired her to pursue a career in the culinary industry.
Dream of opening a hotel
Dorcas disclosed that her biggest ambition is to own a hotel, saying any financial support or reward she receives would help her turn that dream into reality.
She also expressed hope of meeting President William Ruto, noting that she viewed the Guinness World Record as an opportunity to unlock new possibilities for her career.
The chef concluded by encouraging anyone considering a challenge not to be discouraged by critics or doubters.
“My advice to anybody who wants to try a challenge, no matter how small it is, no matter how people dim it, don’t listen to them. Do it,” she said.
