Charlene Ruto says she was raised by a self-made man and is marrying one

Charlene made the remarks while sharing a video from a content creator discussing Yunge and his accomplishments. She described the qualities she finds attractive in a man and connected them to how she was raised.
“Nothing is more attractive than a God-founded self-made man. Raised by one, marrying one,” Charlene Ruto said on Friday, August 14, 2026.

Charlene’s remarks come as she and Yunge continue to attract attention following their Koito ceremony. The traditional engagement and farewell ceremony was held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in Kilgoris, Narok County. The event brought together government officials, politicians, friends and other guests.
Pictures from the ceremony offered a first look inside the traditional celebration. The occasion came after weeks of speculation following an invitation card bearing the names of President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto. The invitation described the event as the Koito ak Chaik, a traditional engagement and farewell ceremony for Charlene Chelagat Ruto.
Charlene praises Isaya Yunge
Charlene has also spoken openly about her affection for Yunge and the qualities she values in him. She described him as a man who has pursued, loved and adored her. She also praised him for the role he has played in her life and said he has helped her grow.
“Above all, to thank the one who pursued me, loves me, adores me, and sharpens me. A man after God’s own heart, so intelligent and smart, kind and caring,” Charlene Ruto said.
