Boniface Mwangi’s wife backs his Presidential bid in emotional 43rd birthday message
By Katemarthason Okudo, July 10, 2026Journalist and activist Hellen Njeri Mwangi has publicly expressed her support for her husband, Boniface Mwangi, as he marked his 43rd birthday.
In a heartfelt Instagram message posted on Friday, July 10, 2026, Hellen reflected on their years together and praised the activist for remaining committed to justice and accountability despite the challenges he has faced.
She described Boniface as a person whose determination has remained firm through difficult moments, saying she had watched him stand by his beliefs even when the journey became demanding. “My buddy, my love, I have known you half our lives, and it’s been the most adventurous,” she wrote.
Hellen said Boniface had gone through many experiences that could have discouraged him, but he had continued to speak up for the issues he believes in. “You have been through the most, but your spirit has never been broken, nor your belief faltered, even after all you have been through,” she added.

A difficult year ahead
As Boniface turned 43, Hellen noted that the coming months could be among the most challenging periods in his life.
She called on the people around him to offer support, especially those who have benefited from his friendship and commitment over the years. “As you turn 43 today, this might be your toughest year yet. I pray that all those who call you friend will show up for you as you have shown up for them,” she said.
The journalist also assured her husband that he would continue to have her support regardless of the challenges ahead. “Even if they don’t, I hope you know I love you deeply and care for you,” she wrote.
Support for presidential ambition
Hellen used the birthday message to openly back Boniface’s possible presidential bid, saying she believes he offers Kenyans a chance for the kind of leadership they have been calling for.
She urged Kenyans who support change to go beyond online conversations and take action when the time comes. “I hope Kenyans know that with all the candidates out there, their best chance is with you as president and that they know to translate that support into action,” she said.

According to Hellen, wanting change without taking part in the process may not bring the results many Kenyans hope for. “We cannot stop wanting change and do nothing about it and hope that it will come if we just hope and believe hard enough,” she added.
Boniface Mwangi has remained a vocal figure in Kenya’s public space, often speaking about governance, human rights and accountability.
Hellen concluded her message by wishing him strength, peace and good health as he begins another year. “You have my total support, you know you always have. With love and courage, Kenya will be better. Love you so much. Happiest birthday,” she wrote.

Presidential bid
The wife’s remarks come after activist and 2027 presidential aspirant Boniface Mwangi had launched an appeal to fund his 2027 presidential bid.
In a statement released on his official social media profiles, the journalist had appealed for support as he takes a stab at the highest office in the land, hinting at what he hopes to achieve.
Mwangi had noted that after 20 years of fighting in the streets, he was taking the battle to the ballot, hoping to emerge victorious and fix the challenges facing Kenya.
“After 20 years fighting for justice on the streets, I’m taking the fight to the ballot box. Running for president in 2027 to build a Kenya that works for us & our kids. This is a grassroots movement powered by you,” Mwangi said.
He said that his bid is a grassroots movement, powered by ordinary Kenyans seeking to transform the country and build a nation that works for the present and future generations.
