Beauty queen Jean Ojiro reveals what she gave up to become Miss Universe Kenya 2026

In a post shared on her Instagram page on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, the media personality and fashion model reflected on the journey that led to her victory, saying the decision was difficult but worthwhile.
Choosing preparation over celebration
Jean explained that winning the Miss Universe Kenya title was a goal she took seriously, prompting her to dedicate all her time and energy to training instead of celebrating her recent academic achievement.
The beauty queen said the experience reminded her that commitment and patience often pay off.
“When I tell you guys that this competition meant so much to me that I put off having my graduation party so that I could focus on training, I’ll never get tired of expressing how good God is,” Jean Ojiro said.
She also reflected on the value of persistence, adding that dedication is often rewarded. “Hard work rarely goes unrewarded. And most importantly, when God says that it’s your time, it is, in fact, your time,” she added.
Double celebration ahead
Now that she has achieved both milestones, Jean said she is looking forward to celebrating her graduation and Miss Universe Kenya victory at the same time. “Now I’ll have two celebrations at once,” Jean Ojiro said.
Her remarks came just days after she was crowned Miss Universe Kenya 2026 during the pageant’s grand finale held at Ole Sereni Hotel on Saturday, July 26, 2026.
Her victory marked the beginning of a new chapter as she prepares to represent Kenya at the upcoming Miss Universe competition.
Academic achievement
Jean’s pageant victory came only days after another major milestone in her life.
On July 20, 2026, she graduated with First Class Honours and later revealed that she had made history in her family through the achievement.”I made history in my family y being the second to graduate with First Class Honours,” Jean Ojiro shared earlier this month.
The academic success, combined with her Miss Universe Kenya win, has made July one of the most memorable months of her life.
Beginning a new journey
As the reigning Miss Universe Kenya, Jean will now spend the coming months preparing to represent the country on the international stage.
Her title also comes with a prize package that includes a cash award, a fully paid trip to Puerto Rico, a brand-new motor vehicle, a furnished residence during her reign, professional talent management, a skincare programme, a six-month gym membership, a smartphone and other benefits to support her journey.
