Auntie Jemimah: I do not desire to get married
By Paulette Mboga, August 15, 2026Content creator and comedian Auntie Jemimah has said she does not desire to get married, explaining that her past relationship experiences and what she has seen others go through have shaped her view of marriage.
On Saturday, August 15, 2026, she said she has never been married and does not see herself living with a man.
Auntie Jemimah said she already has a child and does not want to have more children. She revealed that she has two children, although one died, and explained that she considers herself done with having children.
“It is not my desire. I have a child. I have two; one died. More kids, no. I am done,” Auntie Jemimah said.
She explained that her decision has also been influenced by her experience in relationships. Auntie Jemimah said she was in a relationship for seven years and went through a difficult period during that time.

“I have never been married. Nimeonyeshwa dust sana kwa relationships. I was in a relationship for seven years, and I really struggled in that relationship,” Auntie Jemimah said.

Auntie Jemimah said her past relationship was also one of the reasons she sought therapy. She explained that social media and the relationship affected her, adding that the experience made her question whether she could live with a man.
“So the therapy part was because of social media and this relationship. That was one of the reasons. I was like, I don’t think I can live with a man. It was a lot,” Auntie Jemimah said.
She described the challenges she experienced as normal relationship issues but said her personality made the situation harder for her. Auntie Jemimah explained that she considers herself an empath and tends to give a lot of herself in relationships.

“Normal relationship issue, then I am an empath. I am always feeling…I always want to go above and beyond,” Auntie Jemimah said.
She said she felt she was giving more than she received during her seven-year relationship. According to her, the effort she put into the relationship was not returned in the same way, leaving her to deal with the relationship largely on her own.
“I was in a relationship for seven years alone; I was not getting a lot back. It was not getting reciprocated,” Auntie Jemimah said.
Auntie Jemimah also said her views have been shaped by watching her friends experience difficulties in marriage. She explained that what she has seen has further influenced how she thinks about marriage and long-term relationships.
“I have seen my friends go through a lot in marriage. Marriage to me is unnatural,” Auntie Jemimah said.
She added that she does not believe men and women were meant to live together as romantic partners because people change over time. Auntie Jemimah said this difference is one of the reasons she does not view marriage as something she wants for herself.
