Arnold Malcom: There is nothing weak about a man taking care of himself
By Katemarthason Okudo, September 26, 2026Kenyan content creator Arnold Malcom has encouraged men to make time for themselves, saying taking care of one’s body, mental peace, and personal happiness should not be viewed as a weakness.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Friday, September 25, 2026, Arnold urged men to step away from the pressure of always being responsible for other people and also make room for their own lives.
Arnold urges men to enjoy their own company
Arnold encouraged men to take themselves out, try new things and create experiences that allow them to enjoy life beyond their daily responsibilities. He said people can become so focused on being useful to others that they forget to take care of themselves.
“Learn to take care of yourself. Take yourself out on a date. Buy yourself something that you’ve never bought for yourself. Try some new food. Travel when you can. Visit a new city. Learn new skills,” he said.

Arnold also encouraged men to create memories for themselves instead of spending all their time working or meeting other people’s expectations. “Create experiences that remind you there is more to this life other than surviving,” he added.
‘Learn to enjoy your own company’
According to Arnold, the pressure that comes with responsibility can sometimes make people forget that they are also meant to enjoy their own lives. He noted that many people spend much of their time helping others while carrying responsibilities that leave little room for personal enjoyment.
“A lot of people spend time being useful to other people and carry a lot of pressure. You become so fixed on responsibility that you forget that you also are supposed to live your own life,” he said.
He further encouraged men to become comfortable spending time alone, saying self-confidence can help prevent loneliness from influencing important decisions. “Learn to enjoy your own company. When you become comfortable with yourself, loneliness stops controlling your decisions,” Arnold said.

Taking care of body and mental peace
Arnold also reminded men that self-care goes beyond entertainment and spending money on themselves. He encouraged them to pay attention to their physical well-being and mental peace while finding activities that bring them happiness.
“Take care of your body and mental peace. There is nothing weak about a man taking care of himself,” he said.
Arnold concluded by encouraging men to give themselves opportunities to experience new things, particularly in a life where responsibilities can easily take up most of their time. “Give yourself experiences,” he said.
