Ariana Grande announces surprise 8th album ‘Petal’ mid-tour
By Dan Kauna, July 9, 2026American singer and actress Ariana Grande has given fans an album to preorder as the countdown to the July 31 release date begins.
On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the pop star shared an Instagram carousel featuring a new alternate picture disc for her upcoming album, Petal, alongside two teaser clips of unreleased songs.
The post opened with a black and white photo of Grande, her face partly hidden by shadows and an out-of-focus flower. That image now appears on an exclusive vinyl variant of Petal, available for preorder on her official website.
Petal is Grande’s eighth studio album and her first full body of work since 2024’s Eternal Sunshine.
She executive produced and co-wrote the project with longtime collaborator Ilya Salmanzadeh, a Swedish-Persian producer who has worked with Max Martin and delivered hits for Taylor Swift and Sam Smith.
Grande has described the new album as “something that is full of life and growing through the cracks of something cold and hard.”
Snippets spark speculation
The two audio clips in the carousel gave fans their first real taste of new music beyond the lead single, “Hate That I Made You Love Me.”
One clip features layered a cappella harmonies believed to come from track five, “Oh Well,” a song that touches on walking away from unhealthy attachments.
The second clip, thought to be from track seven, “Freak,” leans into themes of renewal and starting over.
Grande also included a shot from a four am session in the park with photographer Katia Temkin, who has shaped much of the album’s visual rollout, along with a playful mention of eight unplanned bunny visitors.
Countdown to release
Petal drops on July 31, 2026, a month before Grande wraps her Eternal Sunshine Tour in London on September 1.
The 12 track album follows two Billboard Hot 100 number one hits from Eternal Sunshine: “Yes, And?” and “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love).” Its lead single already topped both the US Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart following its May 29 release.
Fans have three weeks left to wait before the full album lands.
