Brown Mauzo: Marriage often puts unfair pressure on women

Kenyan musician Brown Mauzo has said that women often face unfair pressure in marriage, especially when it comes to family expectations.
In a statement shared on his Instagram stories on Sunday, December 7, 2025, he noted how women are sometimes blamed for issues they have no control over.
“Marriage sometimes puts undue pressure on women. A man refuses to provide his relatives with money, and they blame the wife,” Brown Mauzo stated.

This is not the first time Mauzo has spoken about relationship matters. On December 24, 2024, he cautioned his followers against comparing their relationships to what they see on social media. He explained that people only post the best parts of their lives online, leaving out the real challenges couples face in private.
He warned that such comparisons can lead to feelings of inadequacy, frustration, and unrealistic expectations within relationships. Mauzo reminded his fans that every couple goes through ups and downs, even if those moments are not shared publicly.
“Don’t compare your marriage to what you see online. There will always be people who post pictures making it look like they’re having a better time than you and your spouse! Avoid the temptation to make a comparison,” Mauzo advised.
He added that constantly comparing oneself to others can lead to envy and resentment, which may eventually weaken the relationship. He urged people to take breaks from social media if they feel it is affecting their peace of mind.

Earlier, on December 16, 2024, Mauzo directed another message at women, urging them to be clear about their relationship goals. He encouraged them not to stay in uncertain situations for fear of appearing demanding.
He stressed that women should openly communicate what they want, especially when it comes to marriage and long-term commitment.
“Look your boyfriend in the face and tell him, ‘I’m tired of dating. Wife me up or get out of my future husband’s way,’” he wrote.
Mauzo’s personal life has also been in the public eye. He was previously married to socialite Vera Sidika, and the two share two children. Their relationship ended in 2023.

He is now romantically involved with Instagram model Kabinga and continues to use his platform to speak on matters of love and relationships.
