Betty Bayo’s mum says postmortem must be carried out on her daughter’s body

By , December 7, 2025

Betty Bayo’s mother has resurfaced with a firm and urgent declaration demanding that a postmortem be conducted on her late daughter’s body, saying the family needs clarity on the exact cause of death.

Speaking during a Facebook live with Shiru Wa Oakland on the night of Saturday, December 6, 2025, she expressed deep concern about the unanswered questions surrounding Bayo’s final moments and asserted that only a forensic examination would bring the truth to light.

“A postmortem must be carried out on my daughter’s body so that we can have clarity on what exactly killed her,” she said.

In her statement, she said she was also gravely concerned about the welfare of her grandchildren and insisted they be moved immediately from the house they are currently living in, citing safety concerns.

According to her, the children should never have returned to that home after their mother’s death, and she expressed readiness to personally fund their relocation.

“I also want Betty’s children to be moved from the house where they are currently staying, and if possible, this should happen today because I feel they are not safe. I will stand with them, although I cannot promise to come to Kenya today. Many things are keeping me here, but I will follow up on this matter to the end. Those children should never have returned to that house after their mother’s death. If it is possible for them to be taken out of that house, I promise to pay for wherever they go,” she added.

She also urged their father, pastor Victor Kanyari, to initiate formal police procedures, including obtaining an OB number, to ensure a lawful transfer of the children to a safer environment.

According to her, important documents belonging to the children, as well as her own identification documents, remain in the same house and should be released without delay.

“Pastor Kanyari, their father, should go to the police, get an OB number, and obtain permission to take the children. When he goes to that house, he should ask for all documents belonging to the children, including mine, because even my documents, like my Kenyan ID, are still there,” she shared.

Betty’s wealth

Her concerns extended to possessions left behind by Bayo, emphasising that all documents and personal items belong to the children and must be surrendered to the family.

She vowed to actively defend the children’s rights and ensure that everything that belonged to their mother is recovered.

“The person currently living with the children must release everything that belonged to Betty and all documents, and they should understand that those things are not theirs. They belong to Betty’s children, and I am the one who will fight for them,” she said.

She singled out a particular worry for Bayo’s daughter, expressing fears for the girl’s vulnerability if she continues to live in the current environment. She insisted that the children be placed under the care of her other daughter, Wanjiku, once they are removed from the house.

Although she noted that she may not be able to travel to Kenya immediately, she affirmed her commitment to follow the matter to its conclusion, including engaging legal channels to secure both the relocation of the children and the postmortem examination.

“This is my official statement: I want the children out of that house, and we will even seek a lawyer so that the children can be legally removed from there. My biggest concern is Betty’s daughter because I feel she is in danger and may be influenced. As morning approaches, I want the children taken out of that house today. I want Kanyari to take them and move them to my daughter Wanjiku, and they will stay with her,” she added.
