‘Ata wewe hauna akili!’: Lillian Nganga explodes after claims she apologised to ex-partner

By , February 14, 2026

Former Machakos County First Lady Lillian Ng’ang’a has hit back hard at online rumours that she apologised to her ex‑partner following a public statement circulating on social media.

On Friday, February 13, 2026, Ng’ang’a took to her Instagram stories to strongly deny the claim. She dismissed the reports and challenged those spreading them, making it clear that she would not be pushed into owning up to anything she did not do.

Ng’ang’a’s response came after a story went viral suggesting she had apologised to her former partner, a claim she said was untrue and absurd.

“If you find yourself asking me if it’s true, I apologise to my former partner, Ata wewe hauna akili just like the people who published the story,” she stated.

Relationship with Mutua

Lillian Ng’ang’a rose to public attention during her long-term relationship with Alfred Mutua, the current Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection and former Governor of Machakos County.

The relationship began more than a decade ago and was one of the most talked-about unions in Kenyan political circles. They first became publicly linked in the early 2010s and were seen together at many official functions.

In August 2021, Ng’ang’a shocked many followers when she announced she had ended her relationship with Mutua. In a statement on social media, she said she had made the decision months earlier, before going public. She thanked him for their time together and said they would remain friends, but she also resigned her unofficial role as Machakos First Lady.

Ng’ang’a later explained in interviews that her desire for personal growth and independence played a big role in her decision to part ways with Mutua. She said that, as she reached her early 30s, she felt a strong urge to live her life on her own terms.

Even after the split, there were tensions. Ng’ang’a publicly accused Mutua of issues involving property disputes and business interests tied to assets they had been linked to. She has filed cases over ownership and irregular transfers of business shares.

Relationship with Juliani

After leaving Mutua, Lillian Ng’ang’a moved on to a relationship with Kenyan musician Julius Owino, popularly known as Juliani, and the two have a son together. In the years since, she has shared parts of her personal life, including experiences of past relationships and what matters to her in love and family.

Rumours about her personal life, including speculation about her relationship status with Juliani, have circulated online from time to time.

In March 2025, the author opened up about her long-term speculated breakup with Juliani.

Speaking in an interview with Dr Ofweneke, she shared her perspective on relationships, noting that she knows when it is time to walk away. She revealed that she does not believe in holding on to something that has run its course, instead choosing to appreciate the memories and lessons before moving on.

“I never struggle to just hold on to something when its time is over. I appreciate what we’ve had, memories or lessons, and then we just move on,” she shared.
