Niko Kadi movement leader Allan Ademba has announced plans for a mass voter registration exercise and peaceful march in Nairobi’s Central Business District.

In a statement shared on Monday, April 13, 2026, Ademba said the initiative will run on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, targeting young people and first-time voters. The exercise is part of ongoing efforts to increase voter registration ahead of the 2027 General Election.

“Kesho, we’re having our mass voter registration in the CBD and a peaceful March to raise awareness about voter registration,” Ademba stated.

The planned march forms part of the wider Niko Kadi movement, a youth-led campaign that has quickly spread across the country. Launched in March 2026, the initiative is focused on encouraging young Kenyans to register as voters and take part in the electoral process.

The slogan “Niko Kadi” has gained popularity both online and offline, with many young people sharing proof of registration and urging their peers to do the same. The campaign relies heavily on peer influence, social media mobilisation, and grassroots outreach to drive turnout at registration centres.

Ademba, a photojournalist and youth activist, is among the leading voices behind the movement. He has maintained that the initiative is citizen-driven and independent, warning political leaders against attempting to take over or influence the campaign.

The movement emerged in response to concerns over low youth voter registration despite young people forming a significant portion of the population. It seeks to shift young Kenyans from online activism to actual participation in elections by registering and eventually voting.

According to Ademba, the campaign is not backed by traditional sponsors but is instead powered by ordinary citizens and their shared frustrations, including concerns over governance and accountability.

Beyond registration, the Niko Kadi initiative is also pushing for civic education and encouraging young voters to understand the electoral process and turn out during elections.
