The organization has urged relevant government agencies to move with speed and conclusively investigate the incident.
“Failure to do so will lead us to mobilize nationwide picketing to express our collective outrage and demand accountability. The safety and security of our communities , women and children in particular, can’t be compromised, and we urge all relevant agencies to act swiftly and decisively.

Police on Jumaisi’s escape
Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli, while addressing a press conference at Gigiri Police Station on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, confirmed the escape of the Kware murder suspect, Collins Jumaisi.
Masengeli said Jumaisi had escaped together with 12 other foreign suspects who had been arrested for being in the country illegally.
“Today, August 20, 2024, morning hours, there was an incident of prisoners escaping that happened at Gigiri Police Station. 13 prisoners escaped from the cells, among them 12 Eritreans who were arrested for being illegally in Kenya and one male murder suspect, namely Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, who is connected with the Kware murder incident,” Masengeli stated.
Masengeli noted that the police preliminary investigations indicate that the daring prison break was aided by insiders.
As a result, Masengeli said he has since interdicted eight police officers from Gigiri who were on duty at the time Jumaisi and 12 other inmates escaped.
