DJ Fatxo went for hair products at 4 am the night Jeff Mwathi died
By Zipporah Ngwatu, August 18, 2025A businesswoman, Felister Waithera Wairimu, who is a beautician by profession and a witness in Jeff Mwathi’s case, has informed the court that she communicated with DJ Fatxo on the night the deceased died.
In her testimony before Milimani Magistrate Rose Ndombi on Monday, August 18, 2025, Waithera told the court that the communication between them was strictly about business.
According to Waithera, DJ Fatxo has been her customer for hair products, and ten days before the unfortunate incident, he had ordered two products from her business, which she has been running for the last 12 years.
On February 21, 2023, at 10:48 pm, she sent a text message to Fatxo requesting him to pick up and pay for the products (curling cream and foam cream) he had ordered, worth Ksh3,500.
“On February 21, 2023, I sent DJ Fatxo a message asking him to pay for products he had ordered from me for his hair,” Waithera told the court.
Waithera said even though he had been delivering the products to the DJ since she had known him in 2020, that time, in February 2023, Fatxo said he would pick them up himself.

However, she told the court that the DJ did not reply to his message but called her in the wee hours at 4 am.
She did not pick up the first call, but when he called for the second time, she picked up, and he asked her where his products were.
“He called me the first time; I did not pick up. He called again immediately, and I picked up, asking him why he was calling me at this time. I was surprised he was calling me at such an hour,” Waithera told the court.
Reason for early morning pick
Waithera told the court that in his reply, he said that he had been occupied all day, but he needed the products, and that is why he wanted to pick them up that early morning.
Waithera revealed to the court that she told him the products were in her house, and within 10 minutes, he was at her apartment’s gate to pick up the hair products.
However, he did not pay instantly but promised her that he would send her the money before the end of the day. She did not have a problem with that since he was a regular customer and she trusted him.

Waithera went back to her house, and Fatxo drove away; later, true to his words, he paid her for the products at around 8:30 am.
The prosecutor enquired from the businesswoman whether they could have engaged more.
“He was in a hurry, so he did not come out of the vehicle neither did not talk more,” Waithera replied.
Cross-examination
Lawyer Martina Swiga, representing Jeff’s family, asked Waithera whether he could have known where DJ Fatxo was coming from at the time he went for the hair products.
Waithera told the court that when she asked him, he said that he was coming from a meeting.
“He told me he was coming from a meeting at Safari Park,” Waithera stated.
Lawyer Dancun Okatch, representing DJ Fatxo, asked the businesswoman whether she was aware that before passing by her place, he had dropped some three other ladies somewhere.
Waithera said that she was not aware, and she was not interested in knowing more about who he had been with.
