The National Police Service (NPS) has confirmed that six individuals were taken into custody and assorted stolen property recovered during a targeted security operation in Kajiado County.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, August 2, 2025, the police announced that the operation was carried out a day earlier, on Friday, August 1, in Kware Township, Ongata Rongai.

The raid followed a tip-off from members of the public, leading officers to a location suspected of harbouring stolen items.

“Police managed to recover items suspected to have been stolen, including water meters, a solar panel, a Wi-Fi router, an Incco industrial welding machine, a Total water pump, and other assorted equipment,” the statement read.

All six suspects were apprehended at the scene and taken to Ongata Rongai Police Station, where they remain in custody. The recovered items were booked as exhibits pending further investigations and arraignment in court.

“The suspects are in custody and will be processed in accordance with the law,” NPS added. “We thank members of the public for their continued support and collaboration.”

The police commended residents for their role in the operation, highlighting the importance of timely intelligence from the community. They called on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to authorities.

“Community policing is a key pillar in crime prevention, and we encourage the public to keep working closely with us,” the statement said.

The raid comes amid a broader national crackdown on criminal gangs targeting residential areas. In recent months, law enforcement has intensified efforts to dismantle networks involved in the theft of public infrastructure and household goods across several counties.
