Willy Paul boasts about global success, says Kenyan artists can’t match his reach

By , October 27, 2025

Singer Willy Paul has claimed that he is the most recognised Kenyan artist internationally, saying no other local musician receives as much airplay outside the country as he does.

The artist, known for his outspoken personality, said that despite being ignored locally, his music continues to make waves abroad. In a post on Monday, October 27, 2025, on his social media pages, Willy Paul thanked those who acknowledged his success, saying the numbers speak for themselves.

He accused some people in the industry of refusing to give him credit because he does not “kiss a****” to please them. “Thank you for the recognition. These people know the truth. But because I don’t kiss a****, they don’t give me my flowers, and it’s okay. I still won’t kiss no a****,” he wrote.

The artist, who has been in the music scene for over a decade, said his consistency and international recognition have set him apart from many Kenyan musicians. According to him, despite efforts to promote other artists, he remains the most played Kenyan act on global platforms.

Kenya’s most recognised artist abroad

“There’s a reason I’m the only Kenyan artist whose songs get more airplay internationally than most of your artists here,” Willy Paul stated. He added that pushing other artists cannot change the fact that he is still the most recognised Kenyan musician abroad. “Ata msukume watu wengine kiasi gani, fact ni ati Pozze ndio anatambulika uko nje. Feel free to differ,” he wrote.

Willy Paul’s remarks come amid ongoing debates about recognition and favouritism within Kenya’s entertainment industry. He has in the past accused some local stakeholders of bias, saying they favour certain artists while ignoring those who have achieved more without their support.

The singer, popularly known as Pozze, has released numerous hit songs over the years and collaborated with several international artists. His comments have reignited discussions about the ranking and appreciation of Kenyan musicians both locally and abroad.

Willy Paul maintained that he does not seek validation from anyone and that his success speaks for itself. He said he will continue producing good music for his fans and representing Kenya on the global stage.
