Wadagliz respond after removal of popular song ‘Anguka Nayo’ from YouTube

Arbantone group Wadagliz has broken silence after their popular hit song ‘Anguka Nayo’ was pulled down from YouTube on Saturday, December 14, 2024.

In their statement, the duo which lost their popular song that had amassed a total of 8 million views on YouTube, decried being sabotaged due to jealousy.

They particularly pointed accusing fingers to Hood Boyz, whom they faulted for their predicaments.

“This crew pulled down “Anguka Nayo” just bcz of envy towards the song,” they wrote on their official Instagram page.

The song coined from two swahili words that loosely translates to ‘drop with it’ borrows its amazing beats from DJ Creme’s ‘Kufa Juu’.

It was recently featured on Google’s most searched items in Kenya. According to the data released by the search engine on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, the hit song was categorically placed under trending lyrics of the year.

Additionally, the song which the artistes did not imagine would be a hit, was compiled from cuts of their low-budget video shoot.

The group, during an interview, recounted that despite not expecting the song to blow up, they hoped to create music that people could dance to and feel good.

“We just wanted to create something that people could dance to and feel good about,” Kantel Mdagliz, one of the group members said during the interview.

The song evolved from a protest anthem during the Gen Z rallies that rocked the country for the better part of June this year to a well-known hit that made waves throughout the world, becoming a popular tune that resonated with many.
