After a two-year absence from social media, content creator and Mulamwah’s ex-lover Carol Sonnie has made a comeback citing mental health challenges exacerbated by cyberbullying.

In an interview with YouTuber Oga Obinna, Carol opened up about her retreat from the internet, revealing that the relentless bullying and public humiliation had taken a serious toll on her.

“I was confused, I didn’t know what I wanted. And then I was not in a position to do anything because a lot was happening. And if I’d do anything, and I just thought if I do anything, I won’t focus and I won’t achieve what I wanted,” she explained.

The mother of one revealed that she had to take the time off to focus on herself, diving into therapy to cope with the choppy waters of depression brought on by social media trolls

“My depression came from social media bullying and humiliation. It really messed up with my mental health. Now I know how to handle things better,” Sonnie shared.

Carol Sonnie’s public relationship with Mulamwah, which ended in late 2021 amid child support disputes, has been a subject of public interest.

Her very public relationship with Mulamwah, which hit the skids in late 2021 amidst a flurry of child support drama, kept fans and gossip mills buzzing. Mulamwah announced their breakup after their daughter, Keilah Oyando, was born in September 2021. But the drama did not stop there. By October 2023, Mulamwah was venting his frustrations online, claiming that supporting his daughter was becoming difficult.

I try to support but ni hard. Unatuma pesa zinarevasiwa… ata birthday nimetuma gift ikarudisha so inakua tricky sana. Sijui shida wapi jameni,” Mulamwah lamented in response to queries about his involvement in Keilah’s life.

Mulamwah’s surname

In November 2023, Sonnie officially swapped out her ex-partner’s surname for a new one from her daughter’s name. Now, her little girl is known as Keilah Khloe Wangoi Muthoni.

Sonnie shared this news during a social media Q&A, where she also spilt a bit of tea on her personal life.

When quizzed about her relationship status, she playfully admitted she was seeing someone but hadn’t introduced him to the world yet. Why? Because her mystery man prefers the low-key life, away from the cameras and the chaos. But Sonnie hinted that when the big reveal does come, it will be as surprising as an unexpected plot twist in a soap opera.

Sonnie also acknowledged the tough economic times, joking that she could use a cape with the amount of supermomming she has been doing.

When asked about co-parenting, she coyly responded, “Co-parenting with whom?”
