Shorn Arwa rebuffs claims new female football fans are after Harambee Stars players

By , August 22, 2025

Social media personality Shorn Arwa has come to the defence of female football fans who have recently started supporting the Harambee Stars, dismissing claims that their enthusiasm is driven by attraction to the players rather than genuine support for the national team.

Speaking as Kenya faced Madagascar in a highly anticipated CHAN quarterfinal clash at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, on Friday, August 22, 2025, Arwa emphasised that the sudden surge in female supporters is rooted in excitement for the team’s performance, not the players’ personal lives.

She clarified that her message was also directed at women currently in relationships with the players, urging them to remain calm, as the female fans are driven by excitement and support for their country.

“Now the girls who are dating Harambee Stars players will not let us rest. Even pictures from archives, they are posting them now. My sisters, we do not want your men. We are here to cheer the national team. Oh my man, we are just cheering these guys,” she said.

Shorn Arwa’s statement came as she attended today’s highly anticipated CHAN quarterfinal match against Madagascar, donning a striking red jersey in support of the national team.

In a video shared on her Instagram, she could be seen celebrating from a section of the stands, waving, ululating, and dancing as the Harambee Stars battled Madagascar.

The TikTok sensation, known for her vibrant social media presence and outspoken nature, brought her energy to the stands, joining thousands of fans in supporting the national team.

The stadium was abuzz with excitement, and Arwa’s presence added a touch of celebrity glamour to the football spectacle.

She was seen interacting with fans, capturing moments for social media, and encouraging supporters to stay focused on cheering the team rather than getting distracted by the players’ personal lives.

This came in line with her recent statements defending new female fans, highlighting that their enthusiasm is driven by national pride rather than interest in individual players.

Alongside Arwa, other celebrities also made their presence felt. Comedian Eddie Butita, digital content creator Ruth K, and singer Charisma were all spotted among the stands, rallying fans with chants and vibrant energy.

Lang’ata Member of Parliament Felix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, blended seamlessly with the crowd, encouraging fans with his trademark humour and rallying cries such as “Zambia must fall! Arsenal must fall harder!”

The match attracted heightened security measures, with a strong police deployment along Thika Superhighway and key intersections near the stadium.

Rows of uniformed officers, police lorries, and armoured vehicles ensured that fans and commuters were safe, while certain routes, including sections near Ruiru, Muthaiga, and the Roysambu roundabout, were temporarily blocked to manage traffic flow.
