Savara says TikTok has lost its positive vibes as trolls take over
By Valerian Khakayi, November 27, 2025Award-winning musician Delvin Mudigi, famously known as Savara, has opened up about the growing negativity in the digital space, mostly on TikTok, saying the platform has lost the positive energy it once had as trolls increasingly dominate.
Speaking during a candid interview with Alex Mwakideu’s A.M. Live, in an episode aired on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, Savara reflected on how TikTok initially offered young creators a space to grow, share genuine content, and uplift each other.
He says the platform had positive energy.
“It is so sad how I am looking at social media right now; the world is so polarised, and things are so negative,” Savara said.
“Sisi watu wayoung wa TikTok tulikuwa na very good energy TikTok ikianza, watu walikuwa watu wazuri, people giving out sincere energy. Mtu anafanya kitu poa sana huko ocha watu wanampea positive energy. Alafu mtu anakuwa star out of TikTok; it was a good platform to grow.“

However, he says the energy changed over time as social and political tensions began to seep into the platform.
“Alafu vile maandamano ilifanyika, mbaka nikatoka TikTok, ilibidii niipatie break for a while; I was getting so disappointed to see young people getting tribal, seeing an 18-year-old or 25-year-old speaking some political nonsense,” he added.
According to the musician, social media has become a place where people derive joy from trolling others.
“I believe we are a suffering nation where people are finding happiness in trolls,” he said.
Advice to TikTokers
Savara urged the creators to maintain positivity and resist engaging with trolls who disrupt the community.
“Please, guys, let’s maintain good energy on TikTok. wacheni hiyo kitu yenye mtu myoung amecreate kitu safi kali anatry kujipush alafu you look at the first three comments, unaona ni mtu anamtroll so that anaweza pata attension,” he urged.
Savara called on Kenyan and East African TikTokers to reclaim the platform’s original spirit.
“Kenyan TikTokers, East African TikTokers, tubaki pahali tulikuwa hiyo story ya negative energy, ukabila, kutukana watu for the sake of it tuwache, tukuwe in a space yenye watu wanainuana,” Savara stated.

Love life
With the growing negative energy in the digital space, Savara revealed that he chose to keep his love life private on purpose, explaining that he does not feel his fans need to know certain details.
He added that, having been in the public eye for some time, he has learnt that what people do not know, they cannot destroy. He also stated that he does not want to invite negative energy into that part of his life.
“My love life, I keep it so private on purpose; the reason is that I do not feel my fans have to know some details. I have been in the public for some time to understand that what people do not know, they cannot destroy,” Savara disclosed.
“I do not want to invite a lot of negative energies into that side of my life. The other day we celebrated seven years; I have not yet officiated my marriage.”
