Sanaipei Tande to represent Kenya at Intervision 2025 in Russia
Kenyan singer and actress Sanaipei Tande has been selected to represent Kenya at the Intervision 2025 song contest in Russia.
The performance will take place on September 20, 2025, at the Live Arena near Moscow.

According to a statement from the Russian Embassy in Kenya on Sunday, September 14, 2025, Sanaipei will perform an afro-pop version of her song Flavour. The performance is intended to promote global friendship through music.

“Sanaipei Tande will sing for #Kenya at #Intervision25 song contest to be held in Russia on September 20. Sanaipei, known as Sana, will perform an afro-pop version of her song Flavour, which aims to foster global friendship through music,” the statement read.
Sanaipei Tande has built a long and varied career in music, radio, film, and television. She first rose to fame in 2004 when at age nineteen she won the Coca-Cola Popstars talent search in East Africa.
With two other winners, she formed the group Sema, which released the album Mwewe containing several hit singles. After the group disbanded, she expanded her career into solo music, radio presenting, and acting.
In music, she has released numerous popular songs, including Mdaka Mdakiwa, Najuta, Mfalme wa Mapenzi, Amina, Chaguo la Moyo, and others. She has also collaborated with artistes like Otile Brown and others across East Africa.
In addition to her music work, Tande has acted in Kenyan television shows and soap operas. She played major roles in Aziza, Kina, and, more recently, in The Chocolate Empire, a Showmax original.
Intervision 2025 is an international song contest organised by the Russian government and several media and cultural bodies.
It is set for September 20, 2025 at Live Arena in Novoivanovskoye, near Moscow. Participating countries come mainly from BRICS, the Commonwealth of Independent States, Latin America and the Middle East, among others.
The event is viewed by many as a revival of the old Soviet-era Intervision song contest, with some changes in format, leadership and membership.
The theme of Intervision 2025 is “Music in the heart of your country.” An international jury will decide the winner of the competition. The event is being promoted as a showcase for cultural heritage and international cooperation.
