Rose Muhando recalls sister dying painfully days after dishonouring their mother
By Steve Ireri, September 22, 2025Tanzanian gospel artiste Rose Muhando has recalled how her sister met a painful and troubled death shortly after siding with relatives who expelled their mother from their family home.
Speaking during an interview with Dr Kingori on Sunday, September 21, 2025, Muhando narrated that her life took a tragic turn after the death of her father.
According to her, their relatives sold the family house immediately after the burial and forcefully evicted her mother and children. She said that the expulsion was not only carried out physically but was also accompanied by bitter insults and words meant to curse her mother.
“When my father died, my mother and I were chased away from home. At that moment, my mother bit her clothes so that she would not speak words of curse against those who were expelling us. She did not want to respond to her brothers-in-law who were insulting her, because she knew that a parent’s word carries great power,” she said.
Muhando recalled that in the face of hostility, her mother chose silence over retaliation.
She explained that her mother would bite a piece of cloth to restrain herself from speaking out of anger, fearing that her words might turn into a curse against those who mistreated her.
Despite the injustice, her mother refused to utter words of condemnation, believing that a parent’s utterance holds great spiritual weight.
“We buried my father today, and the next day they sold the house and threw us out. They did not just send my mother away; they also hurled painful insults at her. My mother refused to curse them, so she held her mouth shut.”

The singer further recounted the suffering that followed the eviction, saying that they sought shelter by the riverside, where her mother endured the rain without a roof above her head.
“We ended up staying by the riverside, and my mother bent low in the rain because we had nowhere else to go.”
Sister’s death
The hardships, the gospel minister recalled, were immense, and tragedy deepened when her sister passed away not long after.
Muhando revealed that her sister had chosen to align with the same relatives who had expelled them, a decision she said led to her downfall.
According to Muhando, although her mother never cursed her, the act of dishonouring and rejecting her own parent invited consequences that saw her sister live a troubled life until her painful death.
“Not long after, my sister died very badly. She had chosen to side with those relatives who chased us from home, but she never lived a happy life until her death. Even though my mother never cursed her, she dishonoured her own parent, and heaven itself dealt with her,” she said.
She reflected on the episode as a warning to those who take lightly the relationship with their parents or guardians, stressing that speaking ill of them or siding against them carries a heavy spiritual cost.
In her view, her sister’s fate stood as a testimony of the consequences of dishonouring one’s mother, even when no curse is spoken.
“That is why I say to anyone, never insult your parent or the person who raised you, because when a parent cries in pain or utters words from a broken heart, your life cannot go anywhere.”
