Rapper Petra Bockle quits music

The ‘Ligi Soo’ collaborator took to her Instagram stories to announce her sudden departure from the industry.
“I Petra Bockle do not want to be associated with the music industry in any way, shape or form, I hereby disown it willingly in sound mind,” she declared.
Petra, who has been a prominent figure in the Kenyan rap scene for nearly a decade, bid her farewell to music lovers and her devoted fan base, making it clear that her collaboration in the track “GMI” by Kingpheezle would mark her final musical endeavour.
“GMI by @kingpheezle feat me is the last you will ever hear from me musically. I appreciate all the love from my fans,” Petra said.
Her announcement ignited reactions from her fans who flocked to the comment section expressing their disappointment in her leaving the music scene.
Petra Bockle’s music career
Before her decision to depart from the music industry, Petra Bockle had solidified her status as one of Kenya’s top female rappers.
She drew inspiration from legendary artists such as 2Pac, Eminem, MC Lyte, and Lil Kim, and her talent graced the music scene for a remarkable decade.
Petra made her initial breakthrough with her appearance in the renowned track ‘Ligi Soo Remix,’ alongside other Kenyan artists like King Kaka and Mejja. This marked the start of her journey in the music world.
Two years later, Petra Bockle was featured in the chart-topping collaboration titled ‘Eish,’ which included other prominent artists like Gabu, Ulopa, Yvonne Darq, and Abbas, further solidifying her presence in the industry.
In 2018, Petra collaborated with award-winning rapper Khaligraph Jones on the hit song ‘Rider.’ This venture showcased her versatility and established her as a force to be reckoned with in Kenyan rap.
Petra Bockle’s involvement in the ‘Khali Kartel Cypher,’ released about a month later in the same year, further highlighted her lyrical prowess and added to her impressive portfolio.
In 2020, she once again made waves with her participation in the hit collaboration ‘Wanani Remix,’ which featured other prominent musicians such as Bahati, Mejja, Odi Wa Murang’a, Benzema, and Ssaru.
