Nasra Yusuff shocked after woman she helped a year ago calls back asking for more money

Comedian Nasra Yusuff has shared her shock after a woman she supported a year ago returned with another request for money.

The comedian on Sunday, November 16, 2025, said she once helped a pregnant woman raise funds for medication, only for the same woman to call back a year later asking for more financial assistance.

Nasra said the call caught her off guard because she expected the woman to be doing well after the help she received last year. She explained that she was happy to hear from her at first, only for the conversation to take a turn when the woman asked for more money.

‘Entitlement is making charity difficult’

Nasra Yusuff said, “A year ago, I helped a certain pregnant lady get funds for medication. She called me back yesterday, a year later, to tell me ‘unanikumbuka, ulinisaidia last year’, and I said, ‘Aaaawww, yes, I do. I hope wewe na mtoto mko Sawa.’ Then she hits me with ‘Hata ndio maana nimekupigia, we need some money again.’ Maaajabu! Helping sometimes breeds entitlements!”

She added that experiences like this make charity work more challenging. Nasra said she has plans to start the Team Nasra foundation and do more community work, but the growing sense of entitlement from some people is discouraging.

She explained how some people keep coming back with constant requests soon after being helped.

“I want to start the Team Nasra foundation and go deep into charity work, but weuh! Nikikumbuka entitlement za watu nachoka tu. Unaweza changia mtu na umpee pesa yoteeee alafu kidogo kidogo akupigie ati gas imeisha,” she said.

Nasra also expressed frustration with how some people view those who give. She said many assume that a giver is foolish and can be approached repeatedly with new needs. She made it clear that she prefers helping someone once and seeing them progress, not returning with more requests.

“Most people assume that when you are a giver, you are stupid. I want to help, and once I do, I want you to DISAPPEAR from my life completely, go live a fruitful life, and ONLY COME BACK with a triumph story, not constantly begging and asking for more help,” she said.

Nasra ended by saying these experiences sometimes make her hesitate to help the next person because she fears the cycle may repeat. She said, “It makes helping the next person harder because I’ll be like, ‘I’d rather not help.”
