Murugi Munyi shares encounter with stranger who tried to photograph her secretly
By Paulette Mboga, August 19, 2025Kenyan media personality and digital content creator Murugi Munyi has shared a rather uncomfortable experience she went through while running her daily errands.
Taking to her socials on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, Murugi narrated how a man in a health facility waiting room tried to secretly take her picture, but things did not go as planned for him.
According to her post, the man attempted to snap a photo without her consent, only for his phone flash to give him away. This left the room in an awkward silence, with Murugi and others in the waiting area clearly aware of what had just happened.
“There’s a guy sitting here in the waiting room who just tried to take an undercover pic of me, but unfortunately, his flash was on. It’s very awkward here now. Very awkward,” she wrote.

Public figures and the challenge of privacy
This is not the first time a public figure has expressed complaints of a similar situation. Murugi had visited the health facility for a routine check-up when the incident occurred.
While she often shares her life openly with fans online, she also highlighted, albeit indirectly, the struggles public figures face when it comes to privacy. Being recognized in public spaces often comes with admiration, but in some cases, it crosses boundaries—like when fans try to capture photos without asking.
So far, Murugi has not shared whether she confronted the man or simply ignored the situation. The post, however, has already sparked conversations online, with many anticipating reactions from her followers once the story gains more traction. The moment also underscores how quickly simple errands can turn into uncomfortable experiences for celebrities, who are constantly in the public eye.
A cautionary tale
The incident also serves as a cautionary tale about respecting boundaries. While it’s natural for fans to admire public figures, Murugi’s story underlines the importance of seeking permission before taking photos. In today’s digital age, where personal moments can easily be captured and shared, respect and courtesy go a long way.
Despite the awkwardness, Murugi handled the situation with her usual sense of humor, turning an uncomfortable moment into a lighthearted story.
