Moureen Ngigi recalls Commentator snooping through her Instagram DMs due to insecurity

Content creator Moureen Ngigi has revealed that her boyfriend, Commentator 254, once accessed her Instagram DMs without permission and went as far as replying to some of the messages, an act she said was driven by insecurity early in their relationship.

Speaking in a video shared on their podcast on Monday, August 4, 2025, Moureen explained that she often found replies in her inbox that she had not written, only to realise they had been sent by her boyfriend.

She said this behaviour crossed personal lines and left her feeling exposed.

“There was a time your boundaries did not include my Instagram DMs. You would just decide to jump over that boundary because I used to find you had replied to my DMs, even the most personal ones. I would find a conversation had continued, and I had not even responded yet. I kept wondering why you would feel the need to do that,” she narrated.

Moureen added that her hesitation to allow her boyfriend access to her phone stemmed from what she felt was a double standard.

According to her, he was always eager to scroll through her phone but never allowed her to do the same with his.

“The reason I was protective of my phone is because I asked myself why Commentator never let me touch his, yet he wanted to go through mine. That was my argument within me. If he does not want the same done to him, then why should I accept it?”

Commentator’s defence

In response, Commentator admitted that in the early stages of their relationship, he had gone through Moureen’s phone out of insecurity.

He said he searched her WhatsApp for suspicious phrases in an attempt to uncover any signs of infidelity.

“There was a day I went through your phone. I opened WhatsApp and searched for words like ‘daddy’, ‘I love you’, and ‘last night was amazing’, to see if you had ever sent or received those kinds of messages,” he said.

He said he also looked up phrases such as ‘call me now, he is not around’ and ‘love me’, expecting that if anything was going on, such messages would appear.

However, he maintained that none of the suspicious messages he had expected appeared in the search results, and he eventually gave up his insecurities after realising that Moureen was not the type to normalise cheating.

“I searched all those things, but I did not find anything suspicious. All the results that came up were from our own chats. But this happened a long time ago when we were still just a few months into the relationship.”

The YouTuber then jokingly added that many men check their partners’ phones in the same way, and those who do not may be the ones with a problem.

“Honestly, if you have never searched your girlfriend’s phone for things like that, then maybe you are the one with the problem.”
