Lydia Wanjiru: I now understand why people hide their cosmetic surgery journeys
By Paulette Mboga, December 3, 2025Content creator Lydia Wanjiru has said she now understands why many people choose not to share their cosmetic surgery journeys online.
On Wednesday, December 3, 2025, she said the internet can be harsh and that anyone who talks about their body changes can be attacked in many ways. She explained that her biggest concern is not the random accounts that comment on people’s bodies, but the influencers and public figures who join in.
She said, “I now understand why people choose not to share their cosmetic surgery journey on social media kwa sababu you will be dragged to hell and back. But you know what my main concern is? It is not even about some random pseudo accounts or strangers on the internet having an opinion about your body. But it is the influencers, content creators, public figures… people who have a following.”

“Tell me why. Mbona ** yangu inawauma? You mean you got bullied into becoming bullies?” She added that everyone should speak about their own bodies and leave others alone. She said, “Only talk about the body you carry. Someone else’s is none of your concern!”
Ongoing debate over cosmetic procedures
The conversation around cosmetic surgery has grown after back-and-forth exchanges between Chebet Ronoh, Lydia Wanjiru and Pritty Vishy. The three have been at loggerheads over the topic, especially when it comes to BBL and liposuction. Ronoh has been firm in her belief that people should focus on natural weight loss instead of surgery.
In a video shared on Instagram on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, Ronoh said, “No one is convincing me that they love themselves if they do a cosmetic procedure. More so if you are a very healthy person who could have just gone to the gym or been on a calorie deficit. For one year only, and you are good to go.”

Her statement has added more heat to the discussion, especially because Lydia believes the pressure and judgment come mainly from people with platforms. Lydia feels that many public figures attack others even though they also face pressure about their own bodies.
