King Kaka drops emotional song as tribute to Raila Odinga’s enduring legacy

In the track titled “Huu Wimbo Ni Wako Baba”, released on Thursday, October 16, 2025, King Kaka honours Raila’s memory with deeply reflective verses that blend sorrow, admiration, and nostalgia.

The song traces the journey of a man he describes as Kenya’s father of democracy, acknowledging the sacrifices Raila made throughout his life and political career.
“Huu wimbo ni wako Baba natarajia uko salama, nakumbuka ulivyokazana na sura yako itakumbuka. Baba democracy yaani umefuata nyayo,” King Kaka sings.
The artiste mourns Raila’s passing, recalling how his relentless struggle for freedom and democracy defined the nation’s political story.
He narrates how Raila endured torture, imprisonment, and political rejection, yet remained unshaken in his commitment to justice and equality.
“Hii nayo imeniuma baba imeniuma nayo. The number of torture baba sijataja nayo. The last fight in us Baba umeenda nayo. Jowi jowi what have you done,” he sings.

King Kaka reflects on the pain of losing such a leader, expressing disbelief that the man who fought for multiparty democracy is now gone.
He laments that the tragedy feels personal not only to him but to all Kenyans who saw Raila as a symbol of hope, unity, and resilience.
The song also highlights Raila’s role in calming the political atmosphere in recent years, noting that he had become a unifying figure who helped bridge government and opposition divides.
King Kaka recounts how Raila’s political wisdom often diffused national tension and inspired dialogue during moments of division.

“Your salute should be more than 21. Jowi Jowi, what have you done? Baba, you said if you die, there is nothing to fear. Baba unaona vile wakenya wanalia baba with you hawangetuuliza kitu,” he further sings.
He goes further to empathise with Raila’s widow, Ida Odinga, describing her pain and emotional strength in the face of great loss.

In the song, King Kaka recognises her as a pillar of resilience, acknowledging how the family has borne the weight of Baba’s lifelong sacrifices for Kenya’s democracy.
“Baba hata wao wanajua ulituliza vitu baba. Baba Ida is crying, yaani umetuweka hiyo position.

The rapper also addresses those who misunderstood Raila’s influence, observing that some people mistook his passionate following for cult-like devotion.
He insists that Raila’s charisma stemmed from genuine love and belief in his cause, not blind loyalty.
“Baba wakileta noma nani takauwa opposition. Baba, they confused your love for a cult.”
King Kaka ends the song with a solemn reflection on the uncertainty of Kenya’s political future without Raila’s leadership, questioning who will now carry the voice of the people and safeguard the nation’s democratic ideals.
“I can’t believe you are gone. Huu wimbo ni wako baba natarajia uko salama,” Kaka sings.
