Two former employees of comedian-turned politician Felix Odiwour alias Jalango have denied stealing money from him.

In an incident that has been trending on social media for the last few weeks, Jalango claims his former groundsmen, Eli Omundu and Morrison Litiema, stole over Ksh1 million from his car before going into hiding.

But speaking to Milele FM, in a recent interview, the two claimed they are mere suspects as nobody knows who stole the money.

The suspects said they are seeking an audience with Jalango in a bid to clear their names and probably get their jobs back.

On why they went into hiding after the alleged theft, Eli claimed they were afraid something bad could happen to them, especially, after the incident went viral.

“This is a small matter. We have spoken to Jalango on phone and we are waiting to meet him physically to talk more about the matter,” Eli said.

On his part, Litiema said he would only address the matter after meeting the Lang’ata parliamentary aspirant whom he described as a man with a ‘good heart’.

Jalango fires Eli and Litiema

They spoke a few days after Jalango revealed that he had fired them.

The Lang’ata MP hopeful, while speaking during an interview with a local YouTuber, disclosed that the duo returned part of the money they stole.

He said he gave them a portion of the cash before relieving them of their duties.

Apparently, the fugitives turned themselves in on Wednesday, June 14, after learning that detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) were hot on their trail.

“In this country, you can run but you can’t hide,” Jalango stated further dismissing claims that he was clout chasing.

The former radio host, who had promised to reinstate the employees if they came forward, clarified that he couldn’t do so because they had betrayed his trust.

“I am ready to forgive them and even have them back as my employees here at home. Litiema just got a kid the other day so it is really unfortunate what they are getting their families into,” the politician said in another interview.

Eli and Litiema have been Jalango’s employees for years.

The funny men, who have over time rode on the fame of their boss to create a brand for themselves, landed job opportunities at Jalango’s home when they were ardent fans of a radio show that he hosted alongside renowned presenter Alex Mwakideu.
