Femi One admits her fast eating habit shocked people during Europe tour
By Steve Ireri, September 27, 2025Kenyan rap queen Femi One has opened up about a rather unusual personal habit that has followed her since her high school days, admitting that it left people in Europe stunned during her recent tour.
Speaking in a video shared on her Instagram on Saturday, September 27, 2025, the ‘Utawezana’ hitmaker revealed that she developed a tendency to eat food extremely quickly while in school, a behaviour that has remained ingrained in her to this day.
She said the habit began when she often arrived late to the dining hall, forcing her to gulp down her porridge and food within seconds before the session ended.
“I am performing in a high school today, and it reminded me that the only thing I carried from high school was eating food very fast. I used to arrive late at the dining hall, and I would swallow porridge and food in seconds,” she narrated.
Femi One explained that although she has carried the habit into adulthood, it has occasionally put her in uncomfortable situations, especially when dining in foreign settings.
She confessed that during her Europe tour, her eating style surprised those around her, with some even questioning what could be wrong with her.
“Surprisingly, I still have that habit to this day; it has never left me. I eat very fast, and it is not because I am gluttonous; no, I just eat fast. Even when I went to Europe, I was still eating so fast, and I know they were left surprised,” Femi added.

She noted that it was not about being gluttonous, but rather a conditioned way of eating that she has never managed to outgrow.
The artiste admitted that in Europe, where dining is often viewed as a slow and cultured affair, her swift consumption of meals may have reinforced stereotypes about Africans and their eating habits, leaving her embarrassed.
According to her, some people were even left backbiting, wondering why an artiste of her stature would eat in such haste.
“They were like, Africans will never beat the allegations about our feeding. I am sure they were left backbiting about me, wondering what is wrong with this artiste,” she said.
She admitted that the experience made her reflect deeply on how such small habits can shape perceptions and vowed that she needs to unlearn the practice.
“I really need to unlearn that.”
