Dating is spiritual: Azeezah Hashim explains why she’s stepping back from romance for 3 years
Celebrated TV presenter and radio host Azeezah Hashim has opened up about her love life and why she decided to step back from dating for three years.
Speaking during a candid interview with film director Philip Karanja, Azeezah revealed that the decision of not being romantically involved with someone is part of a deliberate, personal plan to focus on herself.

She further explained that her decision is not about a lack of balance in her life. Instead, she believes that timing is everything.
“I do not get time to date, because you will have a conversation with someone and after that, like the whole day, sijaingia WhatsApp so tutakosana tu bure,” she explained.
“Is not that I do not have that balance, I do I think is just that timing is everything for me is like I have set a timeline for myself. I told myself three years, no man, no dating, no nothing.”
Dating is spiritual
According to Azeezah, dating, for her, is a spiritual process, and she believes that when a person is at their peak pursuing a mission, a vision, or personal growth, entering into a relationship requires careful alignment.
“I also believe dating is very spiritual, and when you are at your peak, or you have a vision or a mission, you are going somewhere that process is very spiritual and alignment is everything,” Azeezah said.
“So I need my energy to be solely focused on me.”

Azeezah on marriage
The celebrated corporate MC had earlier said that she does not want any man to bring dowry, insisting that love is the only requirement for her.
Speaking to YouTuber Silva Kiddo on Saturday, September 27, 2025, she explained that dowry is not part of her expectations, and she has not set any bride price.
“I do not want a dowry. I only want love, and I have not set any bride price. I am not the one who should look for a man; it is the man who should present himself,” she added.
She went on and revealed that despite being of age, no man has stepped forward with a marriage proposal, and she continues to wait patiently.
Azeezah explained that she has not received any news of proposals and emphasised that she cannot marry herself.
“I am still waiting to get married, and you know I cannot marry myself, yet you men have not come. There have been no proposals, and I have not received any news of a proposal. I do not have dowry, you can come just as you are,” she said.
