Burale urges youth to abstain from sex till marriage
By Ascah Mwango, July 19, 2025Celebrity preacher and motivational speaker Robert Burale has urged young people to avoid sex before marriage, warning that it weakens the foundation of relationships and contributes to many failed marriages.
Speaking during an interview on a podcast on Friday, July 18, 2025, Burale shared his personal experiences and spiritual convictions, urging the youth to practise celibacy and wait for the right partner.
He noted that when couples become intimate too soon, they risk losing the excitement, depth, and mystery that often help sustain a long-term relationship.
He likened the experience to prematurely unwrapping a gift or re-tasting something that has already been consumed, arguing that it diminishes the initial spark and reduces the emotional thrill that comes with waiting.
The celebrity man of God also suggested that trying to reignite that initial excitement after crossing physical boundaries is often inauthentic and forced.
He encouraged young people to be patient and trust in divine timing, assuring them that the right person will come along at the right moment, and when that happens, the relationship will be built on a stronger, purer foundation.
“Young people are having sex before marriage; you are killing your foundation,” he said.
Adding;
“The X factor is gone. You can’t unwrap a sweet, eat it a little bit and put it back, and then next week eat it with the same excitement like you had never tasted it. Reality is reality. It is like somebody planning a surprise party and telling you to act surprised. Sex before marriage is just wrong. God will bring you the right person.”
Failed marriage
Burale, who once struggled with sex addiction, revealed that he has been celibate since his marriage to gospel singer Rozinah Mwakideu ended in 2013. Despite the challenges that come with singleness, he said his decision to remain abstinent is grounded in his faith.
“Sex is very important in marriage, even for us born-again believers, but it’s not everything. I have been celibate since my marriage ended in 2013. But it is God,” he said in a previous interview in 2022.
Burale also made it clear that he has not given up on love. In a 2021 television interview, he expressed his strong desire to remarry.
“Do I intend to get married? Yes, 1,050%. I’m a Luhya man. I don’t have the grace to be single. Keep your eyes open; keep your ears on the ground. You just never know.”
He added that marriage is a gift from God and something he does not want to miss out on again.
“Marriage is good, and it’s God’s idea. There are some things you have to enjoy in life. In heaven, we’ll just be worshipping with the 24 elders.”
Burale also opened up about the emotional and physical toll of being alone, especially as a public figure who spends much of his time serving others.
“After preaching the gospel, there is an emptiness you feel. You have to come back to your wife. The body is tired; you need someone to massage you and enjoy the benefits of marriage. It can be lonely,” he said.
