Bahati shaves his signature dreads after PSG beats Arsenal
Multitalented musician and social media influencer Kevin Kioko, famously referred to as Bahati, has made good his threat and shaved off his iconic dreadlocks after Arsenal lost to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League on the night of Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
Bahati had previously vowed to shave his signature hair if Arsenal ever lost to the French giants, and as good as his word, he did.
Taking to his Instagram after the defeat on Thursday, May 8, 2025, a heartbroken Bahati shared a video mourning Arsenal’s loss. In the clip, his barber stood behind him, ready to shave off his iconic dreadlocks of ten years. Covering his chest with an Arsenal jersey printed with his name, Bahati braced himself for a new look.
In the same clip, Bahati stated that he had a tough night after Arsenal’s performance and expressed disappointment over the team’s actions. He also mentioned that sometimes a man has to keep his word, and he felt it was time to follow through on his promise.
“I have had a bad night. The boys Arsenal, they did what they did; at times, a man has to keep his word, and I think it is time,” he stated.
Moments later, Bahati posted a photo showcasing his freshly shaved head, accompanied by the caption “New season”, signalling a bold new chapter following the symbolic change.
Shaving threats
Earlier, before the highly anticipated UEFA, the Abebo hitmaker made a bold promise to shave his signature dreads if his team loses. The singer disclosed that he had agreed with his wife, Diana Marua, that if Arsenal lost Wednesday’s game, he would shave off his 10-year-old dreadlocks.
“I have agreed with @diana_marua that if Arsenal loses this Wednesday’s game, I will shave my 10-year dreadlocks,” he disclosed.
Arsenal’s loss may have been a tough pill to swallow for Bahati, but for his followers, the new look could signify a fresh and exciting chapter ahead.
New looks
Apart from Bahati, award-winning rapper and songwriter Nyamari Ongegu, popularly known as Nyashinski, recently made headlines by cutting off their signature dreadlocks.
Taking to his official Instagram account on Friday, February 14, 2025, the Perfect Design hitmaker posted a photo of himself with an afro, revealing the beginning of a new journey without his dreaded hair.
In addition, the singer pointed out that change is inevitable. However, the rapper has not yet disclosed the reason behind his new look.
“And to imagine that at some point, even this version of you will be the old you. God willing,” he posted.
Nyashinski has been known for his signature dreadlocks look. Over the years, he has maintained long, well-kept locks that complement his artistic and laid-back style.
His dreadlocks have become a part of his brand, adding to his cool and unique image in the music industry.
