Winans is set to perform in Nairobi as part of her “More Than This” tour, which celebrates her long-standing career in gospel music and her dedication to inspiring audiences worldwide.

The Kenyan leg of the tour comes hot on the heels of her performance in Uganda on Thursday, August 28, 2025, where she shared highlights on her Instagram stories.

In her post, she described the concert as an unforgettable experience and thanked the Yoweri Museveni-led country for turning out in such large numbers.

“Thank you, Kampala, Uganda, for an amazing night of worship,” she wrote.

Music career

CeCe Winans has solidified her place in history as the third most Grammy-awarded Black woman, following legendary icons Aretha Franklin and Beyoncé.

Her musical journey began in the church, performing alongside her siblings in the legendary Winans family, often referred to as gospel royalty.

Her early exposure to music and ministry laid the foundation for a career that would seamlessly blend spiritual devotion with mainstream appeal.

Her first Grammy win in the early 1990s came as part of the duo BeBe & CeCe Winans, a collaboration with her brother BeBe that produced chart-topping hits and introduced their unique sound to the world.

This initial recognition served as both validation and motivation, signalling the arrival of a fresh, powerful voice in gospel music.

Transitioning into a solo career, Cece Winans carved her own path, releasing albums that showcased her distinct vocal prowess and ability to connect with audiences on a deeply emotional level.

With hits such as Alabaster Box, Throne Room, and Everlasting Love, she steadily built a repertoire that earned critical acclaim and industry accolades.

Over the years, Winans’ Grammy recognitions have reflected her evolving artistry. She has won awards across multiple categories, including Best Gospel Performance, Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album, and Best Traditional Gospel Album, a testament to her versatility and consistency.

Milestones in her Grammy journey include her solo wins for albums like Alabaster Box and Throne Room, which solidified her status as a solo powerhouse, as well as later wins that highlighted her collaborative projects with other gospel legends and her ability to innovate within the genre.

Already celebrated as the most-awarded gospel vocalist in Grammy history, Winans further expanded her remarkable career achievements at the 2025 Grammy Awards, held on Sunday, February 2.

At the ceremony’s pre-show telecast, she clinched two major honours, winning Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song and Best Gospel Album, boosting her total Grammy count to 17.

These landmark wins elevated her above secular hitmakers such as Adele and Alicia Keys, positioning her just behind Aretha Franklin with 18 Grammys and Beyoncé with 33.
