Amarpital wins KCB Road To Masters in Nakuru

Home player Sahota Amarpital emerged the overall winner in the fourth round of the KCB Road To The Masters at the Par 73 Nakuru Golf Club.

Playing off handicap 21, Amarpital posted 41 stableford points made up of 21 in the front nine and 20 in the back nine.

Amarpital also led six qualifies from his club to the third edition of the KCB Karen Masters slated for June 25-30.

Other qualifiers from Nakuru were lady winner Clementine Muli, guest winner John K. Kibet from Kericho, staff winner Allan Kirui, junior winner Daniel Kiragu and Lady Captain Shiro Kaine who won the wildcard. The wildcard was determined from a lucky dip of cards conducted during prize giving.

Minimal pressure

“I took it easy from the first tee-box and played my game with minimal pressure. I hit the fairways with vigour and putted really well. Representing my club at the KCB Karen Masters is a dream come true as it will give us the opportunity to interact and play alongside visiting Sunshine Tour professionals,” said Amarpital.

Andrew Chelogoi emerged the gross winner on a score of 32 points. Winner of the first nine on a score of 22 and playing off handicap 20 was Stephen Macharia from Njoro Country Club. Second nine winner was handicap 11 Sahota Mandeep on a score of 21 while longest to the drive best lady and man were Esther Karuga and Dr Mutai. Nearest to the pin honours went to John Kamais.

Amateurs played an 18-hole stableford tournament while the pros competed in a two-day strokeplay tournament won by David Wakhu of Golf Park on a gross total of five under par 141.

The Road To The Masters series has seen golfers traverse the country in the quest for a prestigious ticket to KCB Karen Masters Pro Am tournament.
