Muslims and Christians in Kajiado County converged in a unique ceremony to mark the Eid ul-Adha at Manaar primary school.

Men and women from the two religions primarily emphasized national unity and cohesion during this electioneering period.

They said the peaceful coexistence of Kenyans at large is mainly dependent on the personal responsibilities of individuals besides the role played by politicians.

Tens of sheep and goats were slaughtered and the meat shared among needy families.

Muslim leaders call for unity.

Speaking during the ceremony, the well-wishers who donated the goats (Direct Aid) said there is a need for those who are able in society to help the needy.

“Every household has been affected by inflation. It is essential to support a needy family by sharing a meal. Getting food is very crucial in the mental health of a household,” said Sheik Kibwana Ramadhan.

They say the challenging economic times call for the needy to be assisted in giving them hope for better days ahead.

“Helping one another should be a lifestyle for all. It should not be limited to specific days. We are not discriminating against any needy person by religion because we must make the society better. Empowering one another makes a better society than having a few people feasting while others are sleeping hungry,” Idris, a Muslim leader, added.

Needy beneficiaries lauded the aid, saying it was significant owing to the harsh economic times when meat became a rare commodity in most households.
