The hearing of a case where David Mwendwa, the son of the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai, is accused of causing the demise of two people by dangerous driving has been postponed until June 30, 2022.

Milimani Law Courts magistrate adjourned the case against Mwendwa to June since the trial magistrate Martha Nanzushi was absent as she was engaged in other official duties.

The hearing of the case was scheduled to commence today (Tuesday) with the prosc£ution expected to call over 10 witnesses in the case against Mwendwa.

Mutyambai’s son Mwendwa was charged on December 21, 2021 with two counts of causing demises by dangerous driving following an accid£nt that occurred on December 2, 2021 in Southern Bypass, Nairobi.

On the material day, Mwendwa is reported to have been driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to the pros£cution, Mwendwa was driving a four-wheel-drive car KBD 421Z Hilux Double Cabin that was involved in the accid£nt.

The accid£nt involved the car, a pedestrian and a motorcyclist and his pillion.

Mwendwa is accused of taking the lives of Stephen Musyoka and Richard Omwota.

The IG’s son is said to have been driving in a dangerous manner, posing a risk to other road users. Mwendwa’s car reportedly swerved to the wrong side of the road and hit two motorcycles causing the demise of the two.

He denied the two traffic charges and is out on a bond of Ksh 500,000 or a cash bail of Ksh 300,000.
