Best music play to stir up your December holidays

The holiday season has finally arrived to decorate, watch movies and make sweet treats. But Christmas isn’t complete without the right music playing in the background.

Christmas music is what really puts people in the holiday spirit, so here is a list of the top 10 best songs to listen to get in the mood for the holiday spirit.

This sampling was done based on the reception the songs has with some songs making good music, others just fast trend music while others have been there for far too long.

However, the sampling of the song include many being local music while others are international songs that have hit airwaves for far too long.

However, the playlist will likely keep you going during this festive season.

Here are some of the hits for your festive season as sampled by K24 Digital; for you to schedule in your playlist ahead of the festive season.

1.‘Pombe/Above The Head’– Iyanii

Given that it’s the festive season, most Kenyans are likely to go out with friends and celebrate and party till the wee hours, with this song most likely being played back over and over again.

A club banger that will likely entertain many during this festive season and is likely to be on many Kenyans playlists.

2. ‘Sipangwingwi’– Exray Taniua ft Trio Mio & Ssaru

This song will obviously be on many Kenyan playlists this festive season, with club-goers and the youth also included.

From politicians to influencers, the line is spreading like wildfire and will likely be a club banger during this festive season in many clubs and food joints where people are likely to meet and enjoy the festive mood.

The song which was dropped on September 14 and has since garnered over 2.1 million will automatically change the bad vibes and negative energy vibrated during the whole year.

The song brings together ‘Gengetone’ artists Exray Taniua, Trio Mio and upcoming Ssaru.  

3. My Jaber by Hart the Band

The three-man boy band, Hart, have without a doubt set the bar high as one of the most recognized groups in the region.

The song my Jaber whose audio has so far garnered almost a million hits on YouTube is likely to feature in many festive parties, with couples likely to enjoy the mood with such a hit in the quest of appreciating each other.

       4. Tabia za Wakenya by Mejja

A hit song by Kenyan musician Mejja that will clearly define the character and behaviour of many Kenyans especially during this festive season and recounts Kenyans true nature.

In the hit song by Mejja, party goers will likely sing along the lines “Masaa na mkenya lazima atachelewa lakini sherehe?! As they enjoy the holiday mood with families and friends.

5. “Under the Mistletoe” by Justin Bieber.

A perfect song just like “My Jaber” for couples out there who are going to celebrate or planning to celebrate Christmas together.

The lyrics by Bieber tells couples to take their time to enjoy each other’s company during the festive season and find some mistletoe to get under as they enjoy the festivities.

6.  12 days of Christmas

Everyone born in the ’80s and ’90s has at least sang along to this song once in their lifetime.

It is a list of the 12 gifts that a faithful believer is to have received because it was Christmas.

It is a wonderful carol to listen to with family away from the club bangers when one wants to remind themselves of the beauty of Christmas and the need to give thanks for the opportunity to celebrate the season.

7. Alcohol by Joeboy

Not really a Christmas song, but many netizens will use the hit to create content during this festive season, especially in TikTok for those likely to visit exquisite places for the gram.

The song, which has spurred a viral TikTok challenge, has done incredible numbers, and it’s already being touted as a Song of the Year contender.

The appeal of the song seems to come from its lyrical content and talks about the worries and troubles of adulthood, and how alcohol is an escape from worrying and thinking.

This seems to resonate with quite a lot of Kenyans and how they are going to celebrate the festive season in many places across the country.

8. “All I Want for Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey.

Since it was first released back in 1994 by the legendary Mariah Carey, the song is slowly becoming a Christmas song for many households.

The track is an up-tempo love song that includes bell chimes, backing vocals and synthesizers.

The song has become a Christmas standard and continues to surge in popularity each holiday season.

9. “Last Christmas” by Wham.

Last Christmas- It is a great song to relax and reminisce on where to improve as you set new year resolutions as you sing karaoke to the song.

The lyrics of this song will get anyone into the holiday mood, especially when travelling to different destinations while trying to make memorable moments better than the last Christmas.

10. “Silent Night” by Temptations

An all-time Christmas song that one cant go without listening to during the festive season.

The vocals of The Temptations is a clear message that Christmas is around the corner, while at the same time making one feel warm inside as Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
